After extensive research and analysis with leading industry manufacturers, machine builders and end users, we have compiled the Top 5 Questions to Ask When Evaluating an IIOT Solution.

Augmented Intelligence in Machine Vision - is Furthering Human Intelligence More Effective Than Replacing It?

Augmented intelligence is similar to artificial intelligence in that it uses machine learning algorithms to enhance defect detection. However, instead of aiming to replace human intelligence, augmented intelligence aims to build upon it.

Robotics In Manufacturing: Threat or Opportunity?

The use of robotics in manufacturing has grown consistently over the past decade. A recent report from the Association for Advancing Automation revealed that North America saw a record in robot sales in 2022, with the number of robots ordered up 11% from the previous year.

Five Ways Visual AI Increases Profitability in Manufacturing

The problem with traditional surveillance camera systems is that they are typically used only passively or reactively, i.e., video images are inconsistently viewed and-more often than not-after a safety, security, or quality-related event has taken place.

Machine Shop Robots Get Real

To better understand the benefits of cobot automation and how it works on the shop floor, we spoke to two leading providers of automated tools to small shops targeting two of the most time consuming and difficult to staff processes, quality control and welding.

Automated Support Removal & Finishing for Metal AM - Robots vs CNC

This article will address the transition to automated support removal (and finishing) solutions and consider the advantages and disadvantages of using CNC systems versus the versatility and reliability of robots.

It's All Connected: Care, Collaboration, and the Cloud

When it comes to MedTech, data is the gamechanger. Whether it is patient outcomes or manufacturing excellence, data holds the key to a new era in manufacturing - and with it, the Cloud. It is the future of MedTech.

Could Energy-Harvesting Technology Power IoT Devices of the Future?

It's particularly challenging to be too reliant on battery-powered IoT devices in industries like manufacturing and logistics. Many factories now have 24/7 operations, meaning there are no feasible downtime periods for recharging.

Predictive Quality Analytics in Manufacturing: How AI and Machine Learning are Transforming the Industry

With predictive analytics quality management, manufacturers may now identify and avoid quality issues before they arise by utilizing cutting-edge technology like AI and machine learning (ML), which has significantly improved productivity and profitability.

The 8 Wastes of Lean Manufacturing

The lean manufacturing methodology chiefly revolves around minimizing production times and raising efficiency by eliminating waste. In this post, we go through the 8 principal wastes in lean manufacturing and see how manufacturing software can help to address them.

Refurbishing Instead of Replacing

With cutting rings, a shearing tool removes the worn edges before they are built back up with 3D printing. Finally, the cutting rings are machined to the final shape.

Understanding the Role of Machine Vision in Industry 4.0

Today it is being applied to diverse areas such as monitoring processes for predictive maintenance, and robotic guidance that makes it possible for robots to safely work with and respond to human interactions.

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

Our retention knobs are manufactured above international standards or to machine builder specifications. Retention knobs are manufactured utilizing AMS-6274/AISI-8620 alloy steel drawn in the United States. Threads are single-pointed on our lathes while manufacturing all other retention knob features to ensure high concentricity. Our process ensures that our threads are balanced (lead in/lead out at 180 degrees.) Each retention knob is carburized (hardened) to 58-62HRC, and case depth is .020-.030. Core hardness 40HRC. Each retention knob is coated utilizing a hot black oxide coating to military specifications. Our retention knobs are 100% covered in black oxide to prevent rust. All retention knob surfaces (not just mating surfaces) have a precision finish of 32 RMA micro or better: ISO grade 6N. Each retention knob is magnetic particle tested and tested at 2.5 times the pulling force of the drawbar. Certifications are maintained for each step in the manufacturing process for traceability.
