Application story: UltraFlex Induction Brazing for Steel Automotive Parts in Less Than a Minute

This demo application proved to the customer that by replacing their current induction heating equipment with UltraFlex, they could achieve better energy efficiency.

UltraFlex, a leading manufacturer of induction heating solutions, recently demonstrated the efficiency of its UltraHeat S5 series for steel brazing scenarios. In a demo application for a customer in the automotive industry, UltraFlex replaced the client's existing induction heating equipment with its own to improve energy and time efficiency.

The brazing setup involved several sample steel parts, including steel shafts, plates, and fittings, and required the use of the customer's induction coils with UltraFlex induction heaters. UltraFlex engineers recommended the UltraHeat S5 induction heater, which is compact, easy-to-use, and has a power output of 5 kW. The UltraHeat S5 also features flexible load impedance matching, allowing for easy tuning to a wide range of loads and coils.

With a brazing temperature of 1400°F (760°C) and 5 kW of power applied, the brazing process was performed using a single-turn and a three-turn customer induction coil. Using the single-turn coil, the brazing process for two of the samples was completed within 40 and 60 seconds, respectively. When the three-turn coil was used, the brazing cycle time was cut down to 30 seconds. For further reduction of the brazing time, UltraFlex recommended the use of a custom UltraFlex induction coil.

This demo application proved to the customer that by replacing their current induction heating equipment with UltraFlex, they could achieve better energy efficiency. Thanks to the digital control of the induction heating parameters, the induction-based brazing ensures high-quality and repeatable brazing results, which increases productivity. Additionally, the brazing process is safe and green, ensuring a quality working environment for the operator.

If you're looking for efficient and time-saving induction brazing solutions for your steel parts, UltraFlex's UltraHeat S5 series is the way to go. With its compact design, flexible load impedance matching, and digital control, you can achieve high-quality and repeatable brazing results, increase productivity, and create a safe working environment for your operators.

FLIR Si1-LD - Industrial Acoustic Imaging Camera for Compressed Air Leak Detection

The FLIR Si1-LD is an easy-to-use acoustic imaging camera for locating and quantifying pressurized leaks in compressed air systems. This lightweight, one-handed camera is designed to help maintenance, manufacturing, and engineering professionals identify air leaks faster than with traditional methods. Built with a carefully constructed array of MEMS microphones for high sensitivity, the Si1-LD produces a precise acoustic image that visually displays ultrasonic information, even in loud, industrial environments. The acoustic image is overlaid in real time on a digital image, allowing you to accurately pinpoint the source of the sound, with onboard analytics which quantify the losses being incurred. The Si1-LD features a plugin that enables you to import acoustic images to FLIR Thermal Studio suite for offline editing, analysis, and advanced report creation. Field analysis and reporting can also be done using the FLIR Acoustic Camera Viewer cloud service. Transferring of images can be managed via memory stick or USB data cable. Through a regular maintenance routine, the FLIR Si1-LD can help facilities reduce their environmental impact and save money on utility bills.
