ANCA Motion's multi-axis servo system conserves up to 96% of energy wastage in highly demanding CNC operations, slashing operating costs

Written by Heng Luo, ANCA Motion Product Manager - In a servo motor system, regenerative energy is the energy that returns to a drive when a motor decelerates, and the amount of regenerative energy depends on the deceleration speed and load inertia. In laser cutting machines, the regenerative energy is typically large owing to their fast acceleration/deceleration and heavy mechanical structures.

When is a PAG not a PAG?

Since the R134a refrigerant first became widely used in the early 1990s, polyalkylene glycols (PAGs) have been the lubricants of choice for mobile air conditioning (MAC) compressor manufacturers. Unfortunately, a growing number of aftermarket suppliers are cutting corners to reduce costs, leading to a number of products labelled as PAGs that are not suitable for compressors. Here, Dr Liz Dixon, global technology director at speciality lubricants business Shrieve, explains why knowledge of PAG composition is more crucial now than ever.

Water Quenching Furnaces

Rapid cooling of several industrial materials, such as titanium and aluminum alloys, is a challenge for high-precision manufacturing processes. To guarantee top-quality in terms of fatigue strength, corrosion resistance, precision fits, selecting a water quenching furnace helps make your job a successful one.

Should Manufacturers Use Water Reuse Practices?

Reusing water means using less which means lower bills every month. There's nothing wrong with that. Also, by using less water, you also get to reduce wastewater.

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

Our retention knobs are manufactured above international standards or to machine builder specifications. Retention knobs are manufactured utilizing AMS-6274/AISI-8620 alloy steel drawn in the United States. Threads are single-pointed on our lathes while manufacturing all other retention knob features to ensure high concentricity. Our process ensures that our threads are balanced (lead in/lead out at 180 degrees.) Each retention knob is carburized (hardened) to 58-62HRC, and case depth is .020-.030. Core hardness 40HRC. Each retention knob is coated utilizing a hot black oxide coating to military specifications. Our retention knobs are 100% covered in black oxide to prevent rust. All retention knob surfaces (not just mating surfaces) have a precision finish of 32 RMA micro or better: ISO grade 6N. Each retention knob is magnetic particle tested and tested at 2.5 times the pulling force of the drawbar. Certifications are maintained for each step in the manufacturing process for traceability.
