Inkbit to highlight innovative high-performance solutions for demanding industrial production applications at RAPID + TCT

Inkbit brings new levels of accuracy to thermoset 3D printing materials with its advanced production technology

Medford MA - May 9, 2022 - At this year's RAPID + TCT event, Inkbit will display its range of high-performance thermoset plastics offering exceptional longevity and stability to meet real-world demand. Moving away from the materials used by most photopolymer AM systems, Inkbit materials are acrylate-free, delivering a step-change improvement in chemical and UV resistance and opening doors to high-performance material development in the future.

The team behind ‘3D Printing powered by Vision-Controlled Jetting (VCJ)', which unlocks production scale AM, will be on hand to explain how their innovative solutions can open new possibilities across myriad applications. Visitors can also learn more when Greg Ellson, Director of Product and Applications at Inkbit, leads a Tech Hub session on ‘Using Vision-Controlled Jetting for Next-Generation Industrial Automation Equipment' at 10:30am on Tuesday 17th May.
"We're delighted to participate at RAPID + TCT where the pioneers of Additive Manufacturing come together to drive our sector forward. At Inkbit we are focused on creating technologies that push the boundaries of what is possible in manufacturing. Our Vista AM System, in combination with our range of thermoset materials, offers a level of robustness and reliability to match the requirements of volume manufacturing. Our technology enables the use of additive manufacturing in demanding applications such as industrial automation, fluid handling, robotics and wearables," says Davide Marini, Co-founder and CEO at Inkbit.
Performance and durability at the forefront of delivering solutions for real-world use
The new material chemistries developed by the Inkbit team provide the performance and durability required for demanding applications. The Inkbit booth aspires to be a popular destination for attendees looking for material innovation including:
• Rigid materials that allow consolidated assemblies with precise features and tolerances;
• Chemical and temperature resistant materials that can handle corrosive fluids; and
• Elastomers with an excellent soft-touch feel, well suited for skin contact applications, seals, and grippers.
Using vision-based feedback control techniques and a material jetting design, the Inkbit Vista AM system combines dimensional accuracy, functional materials and low-labor post-processing - crucial elements for efficient, cost-effective, high-volume production. Equipped with a proprietary 3D scanning system that generates a topographical map of each layer after deposition, Inkbit Vista allows dynamic, real-time layer generation, ensuring that parts are generated with accuracy at speed.

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

Our retention knobs are manufactured above international standards or to machine builder specifications. Retention knobs are manufactured utilizing AMS-6274/AISI-8620 alloy steel drawn in the United States. Threads are single-pointed on our lathes while manufacturing all other retention knob features to ensure high concentricity. Our process ensures that our threads are balanced (lead in/lead out at 180 degrees.) Each retention knob is carburized (hardened) to 58-62HRC, and case depth is .020-.030. Core hardness 40HRC. Each retention knob is coated utilizing a hot black oxide coating to military specifications. Our retention knobs are 100% covered in black oxide to prevent rust. All retention knob surfaces (not just mating surfaces) have a precision finish of 32 RMA micro or better: ISO grade 6N. Each retention knob is magnetic particle tested and tested at 2.5 times the pulling force of the drawbar. Certifications are maintained for each step in the manufacturing process for traceability.
