KIT-AR IS THE WINNING STARTUP OF THE 5G ACCELERATOR 2021
UK-based startup KIT-AR was the winner of 5G Accelerator program, run by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and portuguese telco NOS, in partnership with Startup Lisboa.

UK-based startup KIT-AR was the winner of 5G Accelerator program, run by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and portuguese telco NOS, in partnership with Startup Lisboa. Using 5G technology, KIT-AR streamlined its Industry 4.0 solution, amplifying the value and reach of its automated quality assurance for manufacturers.
All finalists presented their solutions to business partners and potential investors, as well as to a jury of representatives of Amazon Web Services, NOS, Startup Lisboa and Armilar Venture Partners, who considered KIT-AR as the most innovative and promising project among all finalists, distinguishing this UK startup as the one that best managed to apply 5G's technological potential.
KIT-AR focuses on increasing quality in manufacturing production lines, by enhancing shopfloor workers. Its product leverages emerging technologies, like augmented reality and artificial intelligence, to reduce error probability and continuously improve industrial processes.
For Manuel Oliveira, CEO of KIT-AR, "5G levels up the value impact of our products - by having almost instant communication, we can exploit edge computing in industrial manufacturing, and enable workers to reduce production errors in even more ways. Also, we are now able to gather richer datasets on all #shopfloor processes to distil greater insights critical for an operation's continuous improvement. As winner of the 5G Accelerator, KIT-AR receives a prize money of €7,500, has direct access to incubation at Startup Lisboa, €100,000 in Amazon Web Services credits and €10,000 in technical support.

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs
Our retention knobs are manufactured above international standards or to machine builder specifications. Retention knobs are manufactured utilizing AMS-6274/AISI-8620 alloy steel drawn in the United States. Threads are single-pointed on our lathes while manufacturing all other retention knob features to ensure high concentricity. Our process ensures that our threads are balanced (lead in/lead out at 180 degrees.) Each retention knob is carburized (hardened) to 58-62HRC, and case depth is .020-.030. Core hardness 40HRC. Each retention knob is coated utilizing a hot black oxide coating to military specifications. Our retention knobs are 100% covered in black oxide to prevent rust. All retention knob surfaces (not just mating surfaces) have a precision finish of 32 RMA micro or better: ISO grade 6N. Each retention knob is magnetic particle tested and tested at 2.5 times the pulling force of the drawbar. Certifications are maintained for each step in the manufacturing process for traceability.
