The merit-based program promotes STEM excellence and rewarding the leadership potential of college engineering students

The merit-based scholarships reward excellence in education and service, and the potential for leadership and contributions to the engineering, instrumentation, systems, and automation professions. In its 14th year, the scholarship program is a key part of Emerson's strong commitment to supporting quality, accessible STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education and experience to students from elementary school to university.

Emerson will award two scholarship packages in 2021, each consisting of a $5,000 scholarship and a $1,000 grant to each recipient's college engineering department for research support. The recipients may also be eligible for an Emerson internship.

The scholarship is open to U.S. citizens and legal U.S. residents. Among the requirements, applicants must have completed their sophomore year in a bachelor's degree program or be enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited U.S. educational institution at the time of application.

To date, the company has distributed $156,000 in ASCO Engineering Scholarships and grants, supporting 26 outstanding U.S. engineering students and their colleges.

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

Our retention knobs are manufactured above international standards or to machine builder specifications. Retention knobs are manufactured utilizing AMS-6274/AISI-8620 alloy steel drawn in the United States. Threads are single-pointed on our lathes while manufacturing all other retention knob features to ensure high concentricity. Our process ensures that our threads are balanced (lead in/lead out at 180 degrees.) Each retention knob is carburized (hardened) to 58-62HRC, and case depth is .020-.030. Core hardness 40HRC. Each retention knob is coated utilizing a hot black oxide coating to military specifications. Our retention knobs are 100% covered in black oxide to prevent rust. All retention knob surfaces (not just mating surfaces) have a precision finish of 32 RMA micro or better: ISO grade 6N. Each retention knob is magnetic particle tested and tested at 2.5 times the pulling force of the drawbar. Certifications are maintained for each step in the manufacturing process for traceability.
