We’re featuring live demos of our newest encoders, including the LP1 Accu-LaserPro™ — a slip-free, high-accuracy laser encoder designed for packaging lines. Visitors will see how EPC encoders reduce downtime, simplify integration, and deliver long-lasting performance.

Talking PACK EXPO Las Vegas with Encoder Products Company (EPC)

Q&A with | Encoder Products Company (EPC)

Tell us about your company and its role in the industry.

Encoder Products Company (EPC) is a leading U.S. manufacturer of rotary encoders. From our vertically integrated facility in Idaho, we design and build absolute and incremental encoders that deliver precise motion feedback for industries ranging from packaging and robotics to elevators and material handling. With fast lead times, customizable solutions, and engineering support in the U.S., EPC helps OEMs and system integrators keep their machines running with accuracy and reliability.

Why is exhibiting at PACK EXPO an important opportunity for your company this year?

PACK EXPO is where the packaging world comes to see what’s next in automation. For EPC, it’s the perfect stage to debut our new non-contact optical encoder, showcase our IO-Link enabled products, and connect directly with packaging engineers looking for smarter, more efficient motion control solutions.

What makes your booth a must-visit destination for PACK EXPO attendees?

We’re featuring live demos of our newest encoders, including the LP1 Accu-LaserPro™ — a slip-free, high-accuracy laser encoder designed for packaging lines. Visitors will see firsthand how EPC encoders reduce downtime, simplify integration, and deliver long-lasting performance. Plus, our team of engineers will be on hand to answer questions and help solve application challenges.

Will your company be participating in any educational sessions, demos, or forums during PACK EXPO?

Yes, EPC will present on the PMMI Innovation Stage, where our Director of Sales, Jared Stearns, will showcase the advantages of non-contact optical measurement in modern packaging applications. It’s a chance to see how laser technology is redefining precision and uptime in material handling, packaging and labeling.

When you get a chance to explore the exhibit hall yourself, what are you most excited to see? Any sessions, pavilions, or innovations you're particularly looking forward to?

We’re excited to explore the robotics and automation pavilions, especially where AI and smart sensors are being integrated into packaging machinery. Seeing how our industry partners and machine builders are leveraging emerging technologies helps us continue developing encoders that meet tomorrow’s challenges.

With the rapid advancements in automation, robotics, and AI, how is your company integrating AI-driven solutions into your products and services to support customers?

While encoders themselves are core precision hardware, EPC designs products to work seamlessly with AI-enabled systems. By providing high-resolution, real-time feedback through interfaces like IO-Link, our encoders deliver the data stream that AI platforms need for predictive maintenance, digital changeovers, and adaptive automation.

Looking ahead, what are your insights on the future of robotics, automation, and material handling in the packaging sector?

The future is all about speed, flexibility, and data. Packaging lines will increasingly rely on smart components that not only measure motion but also enable connectivity, diagnostics, and quick reconfiguration. Encoders are a vital part of that shift, and EPC is focused on developing solutions that support higher uptime, greater efficiency, and Industry 4.0-ready automation.
