Zaber's new product, the X-NMS-E Series, simplifies motion control by incorporating a built-in controller and motor encoder. Capable of over 25,000 microsteps per revolution and up to 2800 rpm, this compact stepper motor includes a detachable home sensor and small magnet. An additional, optional away sensor is also available.
By Will Knight for MIT Technology Review: The robots didn’t really take over in 2015, but at times it felt as if that might be where we’re headed. There were signs that machines will soon take over manual work that currently requires human skill. Early in the year details emerged of a contest organized by Amazon to help robots do more work inside its vast product fulfillment centers. The Amazon Picking challenge, as the event was called, was held at a prominent robotics conference later in the year. Teams competed for a $25,000 prize by designing a robot to identify and grasp items from one of Amazon’s storage shelves as quickly as possible (the winner picked and packed 10 items in 20 minutes). This might seem a trivial task for human workers, but figuring out how to grasp different objects arranged haphazardly on shelves in a real warehouse is still a formidable challenge for robot-kind. Cont'd...

With two product lines, FASTSUITE for V5, which is seamlessly integrated with CATIA/DELMIA V5, and FASTSUITE Edition 2, a standalone platform, the areas of OLP (offline programming), manufacturing simulation and virtual commissioning are the core of our business activities. Our applications and solutions are not only focused on real customer needs, but they are also designed to improve efficiency and quality of our customers' manufacturing processes. No matter if the process is just about offline programming of a single robot at a small job-shop company or about the validation of a complete production line at an Automotive or Aerospace OEM. We strive to ensure a constant quality of our services and to provide the best possible support to our worldwide customers. Therefore we have established three digital manufacturing hubs around the world. All our teams have a proven expertise on manufacturing process integration and profound IT implementation skills.
