Rollon celebrates 50 years and future growth with opening of new Michigan facility

A new chapter in Rollon's history: the company celebrates half a century of innovation with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art facility in Michigan, USA.

Norton Shores, Michigan - June 12, 2025. Rollon, a global leader in linear motion technology and a Timken company, proudly announces the opening of its new 13,600-square-metres manufacturing facility in Norton Shores, Michigan. The milestone coincides with Rollon's 50th anniversary, marking five decades of innovation and setting the stage for future growth.

This investment strengthens Rollon's North American manufacturing footprint and will support the growing demand for linear motion systems across industries including robotics, aerospace, medical equipment and material handling. With increased speed, precision and sustainability, the new facility reflects a modern approach to production, centred on solving customer challenges and enabling future growth.

"We built this facility for our customers," says Andrew Allendorf, Rollon North American Business President. "From faster response times to streamlined production, we are now better equipped than ever to help our partners turn ideas into action and challenges into opportunity."

The new facility centralizes teams and operations under one roof, significantly reducing lead times and improving collaboration. "A year ago, building a Robot Transfer Unit (RTU) in four weeks was nearly impossible," adds Allendorf. "Today, we're achieving it, and that's just the beginning."
With ample room for future expansion and strategic plans already underway, the Norton Shores location represents a long-term commitment to growth and innovation.

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

Our retention knobs are manufactured above international standards or to machine builder specifications. Retention knobs are manufactured utilizing AMS-6274/AISI-8620 alloy steel drawn in the United States. Threads are single-pointed on our lathes while manufacturing all other retention knob features to ensure high concentricity. Our process ensures that our threads are balanced (lead in/lead out at 180 degrees.) Each retention knob is carburized (hardened) to 58-62HRC, and case depth is .020-.030. Core hardness 40HRC. Each retention knob is coated utilizing a hot black oxide coating to military specifications. Our retention knobs are 100% covered in black oxide to prevent rust. All retention knob surfaces (not just mating surfaces) have a precision finish of 32 RMA micro or better: ISO grade 6N. Each retention knob is magnetic particle tested and tested at 2.5 times the pulling force of the drawbar. Certifications are maintained for each step in the manufacturing process for traceability.
