Beverly, MA: KROHNE, a world-leading manufacturer and supplier of solutions in industrial process instrumentation, announces it has received safety integrity level (SIL) level 2/3 certifications for a range of OPTIWAVE frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar level transmitters. The new certifications further differentiate the range of KROHNE 24 and 80 GHZ level radar transmitters and increase the range of applications in which they can operate, especially in the chemical industry.

SIL 2/3 certifications attest that KROHNE instruments meet the International Electrotechnical Commission's (IEC's) IEC 61508 SIL standards for hardware and systematic safety integrity. SIL 2 systems must function as required 99 percent of the time or better, while SIL 3 systems must reliably work 99.9 percent of the time.
Models with SIL 2/3 certification are available for the following products:
OPTIWAVE 3500 - liquids with hygienic requirements
OPTIWAVE 5400 - liquids in basic applications
OPTIWAVE 6400 - solids from granulates to rocks
OPTIWAVE 6500 - powders and dusty atmosphere
OPTIWAVE 7400 - agitated and corrosive liquids
OPTIWAVE 7500 - liquids in narrow tanks with internal obstructions
