ESSENTIUM VIRTUAL PANEL - THE RISE OF ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING (AM) AND FUTURE-PROOFING GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAINS

Tuesday, October 13th at 9am – 10am CST - Panel Participants: Texas Military Department, Keselowski Advanced Manufacturing (KAM), BASF & Essentium

Austin, Texas, September 23, 2020 - Essentium, Inc., will host a virtual panel discussing supply chain vulnerability; why AM is vital for manufacturers' self-sufficiency, agility, and innovation; and the strategic considerations for deploying AM as part of a supply chain strategy to mitigate disruption and build business resilience. Hosted by Blake Teipel, Ph.D., CEO and Co-founder, Essentium, Inc. on Tuesday, October 13th at 9am - 10am CST, panelists include:

• Major Alex Goldberg, Chief Innovation Officer, Texas Military Department
Major Goldberg is accelerating the fielding of commercial technologies in the interest of national defense and state emergency response efforts. He is instrumental in facilitating liaison between the Texas Military Department, academia, industry, and the DOD/GOV Innovation ecosystem.
• Brad Keselowski, NASCAR Driver, Owner and Founder Keselowski Advanced Manufacturing (KAM)
Brad drives full time for Team Penske in the NASCAR Cup Series and part time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. As a championship driver, Brad understands the important role manufacturing plays across multiple industries, including motorsports and automotive. Brad started Keselowski Advanced Manufacturing in 2018 with a focus on AM and advanced engineering solutions.
• Volker Hammes, Managing Director, BASF New Business GmbH
Volker works closely with researchers and application engineers from BASF and external partners, such as universities and potential customers, to explore new 3D printing solutions across materials, system solutions, components, and services.

In recent months long-established supply chains have faltered leading to shipment delays of key components, idle assembly lines, and furloughed workers. Manufacturers need a ‘Plan B' to keep their supply chains flowing and factory floors in production. AM can be a vital element of ‘Plan B' with applications that can create alternative means to produce key components s - on site - and keep production moving. It can significantly reduce costs, transportation time, and mitigate supply chain risk.
This virtual panel will provide valuable insights into why manufacturers are struggling with current supply chains, the role of AM in solving supply chain risk, and the key steps to adopting this technology to enable more resilient businesses. It will also provide examples of successful AM deployment in mitigating supply chain risk, the role of open ecosystems in driving innovation, and implications for industries including aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, and more.
