Greene Tweed Earns Gold MarCom Award for Right FITT™ Program
Manufacturing strategy works to upgrade factories with Industry 4.0 technology
Kulpsville, PA - Greene Tweed, a leading global manufacturer of high-performance elastomers, thermoplastics, composites, and engineered components, is pleased to announce that it received a 2019 Gold Marcom Award in the print media category for its internal employee communications and change management efforts in creating The Right FITT™ Employee Toolkit.
The Employee Toolkit was developed as an essential component for change communications for The Right FITT™ to maximize awareness about these changes. The Right FITT is multifaceted but unified by a few priorities: raising awareness of Greene Tweed's manufacturing strategy, building a more tech savvy workforce, and developing goodwill for the ongoing technological changes to the factory floor. The campaign also aims to educate employees about the positive elements about the next industrial revolution.
This collaborative and creative effort was led by Greene Tweed's Corporate Communications Lead, Denise DaPonte, and Director of Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain, Fernando Torres, with project team support from The Right FITT Global Smart Factory Leader, Matt Fabrizio, Graphic Designer, Colin McKinnon, and included input from manufacturing strategy leaders, engineering supervisors, operations leaders, and human resources.
"Through The Right FITT initiative, we have successfully changed the culture at Greene Tweed to be more accepting and excited for all this new technology," said Torres. "Manufacturing transformation is happening now, and our workforce is engaged because of communications like the employee toolkit that helps to explain Industry 4.0 technology to our employees and our managers."
Greene Tweed employees and leaders received The Right FITT Employee Toolkits to introduce them to Industry 4.0 technology changes at Greene Tweed. The toolkit pamphlet aims to address the challenges that come with innovation and outline how Greene Tweed is responding. It also explains that new technology is not in competition with employees but frees them up for more value-added tasks. Additionally, the toolkit for leadership addresses the global management implications of Industry 4.0, which has widened the perspectives of both employees and leaders at Greene Tweed.
The MarCom Awards honor companies that demonstrate excellence in marketing and communication while recognizing the creativity, hard work and generosity of industry professionals. Since its inception in 2004, MarCom has evolved into one of the largest creative competitions in the world, with approximately 6,000 print and digital entries submitted from dozens of countries.

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs
Our retention knobs are manufactured above international standards or to machine builder specifications. Retention knobs are manufactured utilizing AMS-6274/AISI-8620 alloy steel drawn in the United States. Threads are single-pointed on our lathes while manufacturing all other retention knob features to ensure high concentricity. Our process ensures that our threads are balanced (lead in/lead out at 180 degrees.) Each retention knob is carburized (hardened) to 58-62HRC, and case depth is .020-.030. Core hardness 40HRC. Each retention knob is coated utilizing a hot black oxide coating to military specifications. Our retention knobs are 100% covered in black oxide to prevent rust. All retention knob surfaces (not just mating surfaces) have a precision finish of 32 RMA micro or better: ISO grade 6N. Each retention knob is magnetic particle tested and tested at 2.5 times the pulling force of the drawbar. Certifications are maintained for each step in the manufacturing process for traceability.
