The Digital Client Portal: Airborne introduces latest feature in journey to Digital Manufacturing of Composites

The Digital Client Portal, where clients can design and order their laminates on the fly. The laminates will be instantly produced within the Automated Laminating Cell at the Airborne facilities in The Hague.

The Hague, February 28th 2019 - At JEC World 2019, Airborne (stand R11, Hall 6), supplier of advanced digital manufacturing solutions for composites (automation and digitilisation), will show case its latest innovation: the Digital Client Portal, where clients can design and order their laminates on the fly. The laminates will be instantly produced within the Automated Laminating Cell at the Airborne facilities in The Hague.

Digital Composite Client Portal

At this world premiere Airborne will show its online manufacturing platform where visitors of the JEC will be able to design, configure and order their laminates realtime, after which a fast and automatic linked workflow and production process starts. The production files are automatically verified prior to sending to the Automated Laminating production cells in Airborne's facility in The Hague. At the JEC the total manufacturing process, from design to tape-laying at the Airborne factory, will be shown LIVE: visitors can sign up for this 'Do It Yourself' laminating upfront via the Airborne website.

How it works
The platform provides a configured user-friendly front-end and a back-end connected to the digital system of the production cells. In 2018 Airborne has developed the complete production flow for a tailored blank, from blank configuration to robot code generation. This process will give clients an easy-to-use experience while gaining direct control over the process, enabling them to make decisions driven by realtime information. With this portal, clients get direct feedback on the performance, cost and delivery time of a design.
The digital future of composite manufacturing
Mr. Marcus Kremers, CTO Airborne: "This client portal is a key building block of how we see the digital future of composite manufacturing. It demonstrates how intuitive, easy and fast it will be to design and use composite products. One doesn't need to be a specialist anymore, all the know-how of composites and automation is embedded in algorithms and is fully automated. This will dramatically lower the cost of composites but also radically reduce the development time and speed up the adoption, so that composites can be used widely to make the world more sustainable and efficient."

Airborne will be presenting their systems at JEC World 2019 | Booth R11, Hall 6 | March 12-14
