Machine vision gets even more advanced: MVTec launches HALCON 18.11
Moreover, the latest release offers new and expanded options for embedded vision as well as updated USB3 Vision interfaces. In addition, core technologies will be further improved.
MVTec Software GmbH, the leading provider of modern machine vision technologies, announces the new version 18.11 of its standard software HALCON for November 2018. HALCON 18.11 will officially be introduced at VISION 2018 and, amongst other things, will include new AI technologies, specifically from the fields of deep learning and convolutional neural networks (CNNs).
Moreover, the latest release offers new and expanded options for embedded vision as well as updated USB3 Vision interfaces. In addition, core technologies will be further improved.
For developers, the new version provides helpful innovations and valuable new features in HALCON's integrated development environment HDevelop.
The new HALCON 18.11 release comes in two editions: Steady and Progress. While the latter is available as a subscription with a six-month release cycle, the Steady edition - as successor of HALCON 13 - is offered for regular purchase. This includes regular maintenance updates (until the subsequent Steady edition is released), as well as MVTecs proven long-term support for customers. The HALCON Steady edition has a two-year release cycle.
Focus on deep learning and embedded vision
"With HALCON 18.11, we are raising the bar when it comes to standard machine vision software. We have steadily advanced important and promising technologies for both deep learning and embedded vision, and have expanded the range of functions available in this new HALCON version accordingly. Developers, in particular, will also benefit from a wide range of new features and further improved usability," confirms Johannes Hiltner, Product Manager HALCON at MVTec.

FLIR Si1-LD - Industrial Acoustic Imaging Camera for Compressed Air Leak Detection
The FLIR Si1-LD is an easy-to-use acoustic imaging camera for locating and quantifying pressurized leaks in compressed air systems. This lightweight, one-handed camera is designed to help maintenance, manufacturing, and engineering professionals identify air leaks faster than with traditional methods. Built with a carefully constructed array of MEMS microphones for high sensitivity, the Si1-LD produces a precise acoustic image that visually displays ultrasonic information, even in loud, industrial environments. The acoustic image is overlaid in real time on a digital image, allowing you to accurately pinpoint the source of the sound, with onboard analytics which quantify the losses being incurred. The Si1-LD features a plugin that enables you to import acoustic images to FLIR Thermal Studio suite for offline editing, analysis, and advanced report creation. Field analysis and reporting can also be done using the FLIR Acoustic Camera Viewer cloud service. Transferring of images can be managed via memory stick or USB data cable. Through a regular maintenance routine, the FLIR Si1-LD can help facilities reduce their environmental impact and save money on utility bills.
