Methods Machine Tools to Showcase a Combination of Technologies at the 2018 Smart Manufacturing Experience

Methods will showcase a combination of automation capabilities to demonstrate how multiple machine tools work with other technologies to solve complex manufacturing challenges and provide customers with complete automation solutions.

(BOSTON) - Methods Machine Tools, a leading supplier of precision machine tools, 3D printing technology, and automation, will bring seven of its real world technologies to life at the upcoming Smart Manufacturing Experience event, in booth #325 at the Boston Convention Center, April 30 through May 2. Co-sponsored by SME and AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology, the Smart Manufacturing Experience will provide attendees with practical solutions for applying the latest advanced manufacturing technologies available today.

Methods will showcase a combination of automation capabilities to demonstrate how multiple machine tools work with other technologies to solve complex manufacturing challenges and provide customers with complete automation solutions. Methods products that will be on display to simulate will include the FANUC Robodrill and Robocut machines, VisionGauge Digital Optical Comparator, 3D Systems and Markforged 3D printers, Vytek Laser Marker, and the FANUC MT-LINKi. MT-LINKi is a software solution to monitor and collect operational and production data from all machines within a manufacturing environment. All of these technologies highlight synergies between automation, Industry 4.0/ IoT, additive manufacturing, and advanced machining. Attendees will also see the Yasda YMC 430 RT10 5-axis linear motor micro machining center demonstrating precise multiple face indexing in one set up and 5 axis simultaneous micro machining of complex parts.

Event guests are invited to attend two Methods Machine Tools presentations about automation and precision machining. During his main stage presentation titled, "Automation Trends for Today's Manufacturing," MMT National Automation Manager John Lucier will delve into the current trends in manufacturing automation, including some of the different forms of automation, advances in vision, force sensing as well as collaborative robots and collaborative technology.

Mark Perreault, Precision Machine Product Specialist for Methods Machine Tools, will lead a conference session discussing precision machining and its effect in manufacturing facilities to help attendees understand which variables can negatively influence consistent machining results and how to minimize the effect on precision operations. Perreault will also be available during the show to answer questions at the Knowledge Bar.
