SIKA SYSTEMS DELIVER GREATER HYGIENIC CONTROL FOR PHARMA MANUFACTURERS
To be unveiled at Interphex, new solutions empower companies to better control production and classified environments
Sika continues to expand its portfolio of high-performance flooring solutions with a service offering designed specifically to meet the wide-ranging needs of pharmaceutical manufacturers. Soon to be unveiled at Interphex (April 17-19; Javits Center, New York City), the service will enable life sciences companies to assert greater control over the design, construction, maintenance and cost of existing and new facilities.
Sika, the worlds largest manufacturer of pharmaceutical floor and wall systems, is making available to architects, designers and managers of pharmaceutical facilities its network of technical, design and construction experts to create systems that address the unique demands pharma environments. Working along with Sikas installation partners—a carefully vetted group of professionals averaging 20 years of pharma construction experience, companies can benefit from time-and cost-saving installation technology, shaving weeks off construction and allowing pharmaceutical manufacturers to assert greater control over shutdown and production start dates.
In applications for cleanrooms and other areas requiring the most stringent environmental monitoring, Sika has developed a hygienic envelope system that integrates floors, walls and ceilings into a seamless, non-porous, chemical resistant barrier. This technique facilitates the ease and speed of sanitization and prevents liquids from compromising the substrate which could create the possibility of back side mold growth.
"Controlled spaces in biologics, pharmaceutical, medical device and clean production facilities are subject to both local and global inspections against rigorous standards," said Jim Hendley, Life Sciences Vertical Market Manager, Sika Corporation USA. "At Sika, we believe it is essential to integrate the designer, manufacturer and facility manager in to a team, to understand these issues and provide a holistic, no-surprise, flooring and—importantly—full-envelope system that maintain performance expectations, sterility and construction schedules."
This approach ensures the facility owner greater control over the performance of the system through its lifetime and prevents failures with solutions that offer superior design properties to meet the rigorous standards of a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. Sika systems offer exceptional durability and longevity with high levels of resistance to chemical, mechanical and impact resistances so when facilities are inspected they not only are sanitary, they look sanitary. Additionally, Sikas cleanroom systems release 1,000 times fewer emissions than standard low VOC systems.
Interphex attendees interested in learning more about how life science companies can better control the environmental conditions of their developmental, production and logistical areas, are invited to attend Jim Hendleys presentation at Interphexs Technical Conference Stage 5, Booth 1677 at 3:00 PM April 17.

FLIR Si1-LD - Industrial Acoustic Imaging Camera for Compressed Air Leak Detection
The FLIR Si1-LD is an easy-to-use acoustic imaging camera for locating and quantifying pressurized leaks in compressed air systems. This lightweight, one-handed camera is designed to help maintenance, manufacturing, and engineering professionals identify air leaks faster than with traditional methods. Built with a carefully constructed array of MEMS microphones for high sensitivity, the Si1-LD produces a precise acoustic image that visually displays ultrasonic information, even in loud, industrial environments. The acoustic image is overlaid in real time on a digital image, allowing you to accurately pinpoint the source of the sound, with onboard analytics which quantify the losses being incurred. The Si1-LD features a plugin that enables you to import acoustic images to FLIR Thermal Studio suite for offline editing, analysis, and advanced report creation. Field analysis and reporting can also be done using the FLIR Acoustic Camera Viewer cloud service. Transferring of images can be managed via memory stick or USB data cable. Through a regular maintenance routine, the FLIR Si1-LD can help facilities reduce their environmental impact and save money on utility bills.
