Industrial Motherboard Gives Rise to Machine Vision Applications

NEXCOM's latest high-performance industrial motherboard improves image processing for diverse machine vision applications.

NEXCOM's newly launched NEX 912 is a high-performance standard ATX industrial motherboard that improves image processing for diverse machine vision applications. Supporting the 7th and 6th generations Intel® Core™ processors paired with Intel® Q170 Chipset, NEX 912 excels at offering advanced computing and powerful image handling with expansion capabilities to improve inspection and secure quality production in the manufacturing industries.

Automatic optical inspection machines require faster image processing to recognize manufacturing defects. Connected to several high definition cameras, the latest industrial motherboard can process and analyze captured images to detect a variety of surface defects. Taking advantage of video capture cards installed via PCIe expansion slots, NEX 912 succeeds to recognize nodules, scratches and stains, all relevant when inspecting cogwheels and printed circuit boards (PCBs). For the latter, it can even recognize imperfections such as open circuits, shorts and thinning of the solder, and incorrectly placed or missing components.
NEX 912, supporting frame grabbers through PCIe slots, yields machine vision for industrial applications. The industrial motherboard fosters the food and beverage industry by detecting dimensional defects in the finish and neck of bottles, including cracks, ovalization, thickness and air tightness. Similarly, it assists the manufacturing and inspection of large LCD panels to detect flaws that cause optical faults ensuring a cost-efficient production.
Security mechanisms are required in connected factories. NEX 912, in charge of processing large bulks of acquired images, allows an optional support of trusted platform management (TPM 2.0) module and RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 as well, to increase data availability and security.

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

Our retention knobs are manufactured above international standards or to machine builder specifications. Retention knobs are manufactured utilizing AMS-6274/AISI-8620 alloy steel drawn in the United States. Threads are single-pointed on our lathes while manufacturing all other retention knob features to ensure high concentricity. Our process ensures that our threads are balanced (lead in/lead out at 180 degrees.) Each retention knob is carburized (hardened) to 58-62HRC, and case depth is .020-.030. Core hardness 40HRC. Each retention knob is coated utilizing a hot black oxide coating to military specifications. Our retention knobs are 100% covered in black oxide to prevent rust. All retention knob surfaces (not just mating surfaces) have a precision finish of 32 RMA micro or better: ISO grade 6N. Each retention knob is magnetic particle tested and tested at 2.5 times the pulling force of the drawbar. Certifications are maintained for each step in the manufacturing process for traceability.
