OH!Manufacturing's 3D Printing & AM Forum was a Success!

COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Approximately 100 people attended the OH!Manufacturing 3D Printing & Additive Manufacturing Forum held at The Ohio History Connection, Columbus, Ohio. They came to listen, to learn, and to discover the benefits—and sometimes struggles—of incorporating 3D/Advanced Manufacturing (AM) into a manufacturing process. Attendees heard from Honda North America Engineering, Tech International and their service provider Tangible Solutions, Venture Plastics, start-up company Chaudway Enterprises and their service provider Priority Designs, and Ohio WillowWood.

The strength of AM as it stands today, even while advances are still being made, is enough that it is already being successfully incorporated by manufacturers both large and small. Waiting too long to at least investigate, if not incorporate, the technology could mean the difference between a manufacturer remaining competitive in a tough market and quickly falling too far behind. Many manufacturers simply lack the information they need and the resources necessary to plan a course of action for the inclusion of AM into their operations.

In the past, OH!Manufacturing assisted several manufacturers by locating for them a 3D service provider who could address their specific needs for the best possible price. Aware that there was hesitation from other manufacturers when considering AM as a solution, we called upon several of our clients to share their experiences with their peers.

Bringing these companies together in one place at one time gave other manufacturers an opportunity to learn about the journey into 3D/AM from some of their own. The casual environment provided a unique opportunity to ask questions of and network with those who had already navigated the path other manufacturers are now considering.

OH!Manufacturing would like to thank all of the presenters who graciously volunteered their time to speak, as well as everyone who attended, for making this event such a great success.

FLIR Si1-LD - Industrial Acoustic Imaging Camera for Compressed Air Leak Detection

FLIR Si1-LD - Industrial Acoustic Imaging Camera for Compressed Air Leak Detection

The FLIR Si1-LD is an easy-to-use acoustic imaging camera for locating and quantifying pressurized leaks in compressed air systems. This lightweight, one-handed camera is designed to help maintenance, manufacturing, and engineering professionals identify air leaks faster than with traditional methods. Built with a carefully constructed array of MEMS microphones for high sensitivity, the Si1-LD produces a precise acoustic image that visually displays ultrasonic information, even in loud, industrial environments. The acoustic image is overlaid in real time on a digital image, allowing you to accurately pinpoint the source of the sound, with onboard analytics which quantify the losses being incurred. The Si1-LD features a plugin that enables you to import acoustic images to FLIR Thermal Studio suite for offline editing, analysis, and advanced report creation. Field analysis and reporting can also be done using the FLIR Acoustic Camera Viewer cloud service. Transferring of images can be managed via memory stick or USB data cable. Through a regular maintenance routine, the FLIR Si1-LD can help facilities reduce their environmental impact and save money on utility bills.
