Hybrid CNC Parts Expands Additive Manufacturing Capabilities with Phillips Additive Hybrid Systems

Worcester, Massachusetts ( United States ) — Hybrid CNC Parts has expanded its advanced manufacturing capabilities with the purchase of two additional Phillips Additive Hybrid Laser-Wire systems, powered by Haas and Meltio. The investment triples the company's Hybrid capacity, enabling greater flexibility, redundancy, and throughput for customers seeking precision metal additive and subtractive manufacturing under one roof.

The new machines strengthen Hybrid CNC Parts' ability to serve industries such as aerospace, defense, and advanced R&D — sectors that increasingly require rapid prototyping, repair, and small-batch production of complex metal components using materials such as nickel and cobalt superalloys, like Inconel® and Stellite®, and tool steels.

"We first adopted the Phillips Additive Hybrid system after discovering Meltio's laser-wire technology through Phillips," said Jesse Silverberg, Ph.D., founder of Hybrid CNC Parts. "Seeing the system in person confirmed it could do exactly what we needed — deliver strong, machinable metal parts without the powder-handling challenges or constraints typical of traditional metal AM. Two and a half years later, we've proven the process, refined our metallurgical understanding, and are now scaling up to meet growing customer demand."

Hybrid CNC Parts operates as both a Hybrid job shop and a design-for-hybrid engineering firm, bridging the gap between digital design and production. Its engineers specialize in optimizing parts for hybrid manufacturing — balancing additive and subtractive processes to achieve superior performance and cost efficiency.

"Designing for Hybrid requires a different mindset," Silverberg added. "It's not just about printing entire parts. It's about knowing where to add material and where to machine — combining the strengths of both to achieve the best results. That's where our experience really differentiates us."
With the addition of two Phillips Additive Hybrids, Hybrid CNC Parts now operates a total of three Laser-Wire Hybrid Systems. The Hybrids highlight Meltio's IR laser additive technology integrated on two Haas VF-5s and a UMC-750. The expanded fleet increases capacity, builds redundancy, minimizes downtime, and enables simultaneous production and development.
Phillips Corporation has supported Hybrid CNC Parts from its first installation through this latest expansion, providing integration expertise, technical support, and ongoing collaboration.
"Hybrid CNC Parts is an excellent example of an early adopter who didn't just implement the technology — they mastered it," said Dan Insogna, Regional Account Manager for Additive Manufacturing at Phillips Corporation. "Their ability to design for Hybrid and deliver high-value, small-run production demonstrates exactly what this technology was built for: agility, efficiency, and innovation."

With its expanded Hybrid fleet, Hybrid CNC Parts is inviting forward-thinking companies to explore pilot projects and prototyping collaborations. The company's combined design, process, and materials expertise make it an ideal partner for organizations seeking to understand and implement hybrid manufacturing technologies in their own operations.

"Now that we've scaled our capacity and validated the process, we're opening our doors to customers who want to see what Hybrid can do for them," Silverberg said. "We're ready to help others unlock the same advantages that have transformed our business."
