ALIO INDUSTRIES TO LAUNCH INNOVATIVE ‘ThruSight-Focus’ OPEN-CENTER XYZ STAGE AT AUTOMATE 2025

The launch will take place on booth No. 1339, where ALIO will showcase how ThruSight-Focus is redefining precision motion for next-generation manufacturing and research applications. ALIO has applied for both a domestic and international patent on the ThruSight product series.

(6th May 2025, Arvada, CO, USA) ALIO Industries, an Allient Company and recognized leader in precision motion control systems, will unveil its newest motion platform, the ThruSight-Focus open-center XYZ stage, at the AUTOMATE Show in Detroit, May 12-15, 2025. The launch will take place on booth No. 1339, where ALIO will showcase how ThruSight-Focus is redefining precision motion for next-generation manufacturing and research applications. ALIO has applied for both a domestic and international patent on the ThruSight product series.

ThruSight-Focus is a high-performance, compact motion platform specifically engineered for applications requiring dual-side access to the sample or workpiece. It pairs ALIO's monolithic open-center XY stage — known for its nanometer-level precision, crossed roller bearings, and direct linear drives — with a novel Z-wedge mechanism that converts horizontal drive force into vertical motion via direct drive. This innovative architecture eliminates backlash, enhances servo responsiveness, and delivers fast, stable Z-axis movements — all within a low-profile footprint.
"ThruSight-Focus represents a significant step forward in motion control," says Mark Holcomb, Director of Product Management at ALIO Industries. "It's purpose-built to solve key integration challenges our customers face across life sciences, semiconductor, and photonics applications. With ThruSight-Focus, users compromise nothing regarding precision but gain focus flexibility and crucial back-side accessibility, unlocking process capability and performance that were previously out of reach. All this functionality is accomplished in a low-profile form factor, which is an added benefit to system integrators."

ThruSight-Focus is ideally suited for applications such as backside wafer processing, microlens alignment, silicon photonic integration, genome sequencing, and high-resolution digital pathology. Its open-center design allows light or laser access from below, enabling improved imaging quality, dual-sided processing, and simplified packaging of complex optical or electronic systems.
"Many of our customers are developing cutting-edge solutions in optics, life sciences, and microelectronics — but motion hardware isn't their specialty," Holcomb adds. "We've built ThruSight-Focus to remove that complexity. It's compact, flexible, and incredibly precise — ready to be dropped into a high-performance environment with minimal effort."

In addition to its core features, ALIO will preview future ThruSight-Focus enhancements, including a full 360-degree rotary stage to add a fourth degree of motion, opening even more alignment and positioning possibilities.

Visitors to booth No. 1339 at AUTOMATE 2025 will be among the first to see ThruSight-Focus in action. Mark and the team of Allient Applications and Sales Engineers will be available throughout the show to provide demonstrations, answer technical questions, and explore how ThruSight-Focus can be customized to meet specific customer needs.
