Healthcare Packaging EXPO 2019 (Sept. 23–25; Las Vegas Convention Center) will bring the latest and widest range of equipment solutions and innovations across the supply chain to 5,000 pharmaceutical, biopharma, nutraceutical and medical device professionals. Produced by PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, and co-located with PACK EXPO Las Vegas, Healthcare Packaging EXPO will feature technologies from 2,000 exhibitors across a 900,000-net square-foot show floor.

Healthcare Packaging EXPO will showcase a wide variety of solutions from service providers, logistics suppliers and contact manufacturers offering solutions such as:

Discover the Latest in Robotics

The debut of the Robotics Zone will showcase the latest advancements in industrial robots. In the Future Innovators Robotics Showcase, attendees will be welcomed by the PACK EXPO Omron Greeter Robot and experience interactive demonstrations by local robotics teams. The Robotics Zone will also feature live demonstrations of artificial intelligence, end-of-arm tools, collaborative robots (cobots) and pick and place/relocation activities, including:

  • Object Detection and Flexible Grasping with Artificial Intelligence Demo sponsored by Siemens Digital Industries US
  • Comau’s Interactive Wearable Exoskeleton allows attendees to try on a wearable suit and perform assisted task and product handling
  • Soft Robotics End-Of-Arm Tool Exhibit demonstrates an end-of-arm tool designed to mimic the human hand to grasp and manipulate items that vary in size, shape and weight
  • The KUKA Robotic Pianist live in concert
  • The Ready Robotics Bowling Robot
  • Pick and Place/Relocation activities in action, compliments of the University of Waterloo and Septimatech Autonomous Robot

And, as a part of PACK for a Purpose: Robots Fighting Hunger, robots will be packing food into backpacks to feed children on the weekends, in collaboration with Blessings in a Backpack. Exhibitors Bosch Packaging Technology, Inc., Chicago Electric, FANUC America, ProMach Performance Services with ABB, Soft Robotics, and Cognex and Universal Robots in partnership with Allied Technology will supply robots for this cause.

 

Find Practical Solutions

As demand rises for sustainable packaging solutions, the Reusable Packaging Pavilion, sponsored by the Reusable Packaging Association (RPA), is a hotspot for technologies that reduce waste, cut costs and boost chain efficiency. At the Reusable Packaging Learning Center, attendees can discover how investing in reusable packaging assets can both increase sustainability and minimize costs along the supply chain

Making its Las Vegas debut, The PACKage Printing Pavilion gathers exhibitors showcasing the latest digital printing advancements and cost-cutting solutions in one convenient location. In the Containers and Materials Pavilion, attendees can also find the latest innovations in flexible and rigid formats alike, including paperboard, glass, metal and plastic substrates as well as containers.

Also new to Las Vegas, the Technology Excellence Awards, bestowed by PMMI, recognize innovative technology being showcased for the first time at PACK EXPO Las Vegas and Healthcare Packaging EXPO. All registered attendees will be able to vote on their favorites among the finalists selected in specific market segments.

 

Join Educational Sessions

Healthcare Packaging EXPO 2019 and PACK EXPO Las Vegas attendees will have free access to educational programming at the Innovation Stage (Booth #N­­-501). Industry-specific solutions and best practices will be addressed by suppliers during the 30-minute seminars throughout the show.

New to Las Vegas in 2019, The Forum offers attendees a unique, interactive learning experience featuring free 45-minute seminars. Attendees will delve into the latest industry trends with hands-on activities, small group discussions and Q&A sessions. Topics will include planning for career success in packaging, understanding overall equipment effectiveness and standardizing factory acceptance test procedures.

 

Build a Workforce for Today and Tomorrow

Healthcare Packaging EXPO offers programs and activities to excite the next generation about careers in packaging. The Amazing Packaging Race is designed to highlight the possibilities in the packaging industry, and the Future Innovators Robotics Showcase features robotics teams from local schools in Las Vegas and their innovations.  

Suppliers can meet with students and veterans pursuing careers in packaging and processing during one-on-one informational interviews, through CareerLink, PMMI’s online job board, now live at PACK EXPO. At the Workforce Development Pavilion, attendees and exhibitors can learn about PMMI’s student activities and find out about packaging programs.

PMMI U offers popular training workshops at the show that keep industry members well-equipped to address evolving needs. Attendees can attend a seminar on Risk Assessment and join a Certified Trainer workshop. PMMI members can delve into a session on The Fundamentals of Field Service.

 

Network Across Industries

Before the floor opens on each day of the show, attendees are invited to join Vision 2025 breakfasts for interactive discussions on key industry topics including asset reliability, onboarding and request for proposal (RPF) strategy.

The Packaging & Processing Women’s Leadership Network (PPWLN) will host a breakfast on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 7:30 a.m. PPWLN’s mission is to recruit, retain and advance women in packaging and processing. This year’s keynote speaker is Ellen Ochoa, the first Hispanic woman to visit space. Her experiences as a history-making astronaut will inspire all who attend.

PACK gives BACKTM returns to Healthcare Packaging EXPO and PACK EXPO Las Vegas with a networking event on Monday, Sept. 23. This year’s benefit will feature the Steve Miller Band. A portion of the proceeds will support NS2 Serves®, a nonprofit dedicated to helping recent U.S. military veterans transition from combat boots to business suits by providing valuable IT training and employment assistance at no cost to veterans.
