Applied Manufacturing Technologies Successfully Installs State-of-the-Art Automated Production and Material Handling Solutions at Meat Processor Wolverine Packing Co.

AMT shares details of newly-completed installation of flexible automated production and material handling lines at two Detroit-area Wolverine Packing Co. facilities, allowing the company to quickly scale production.

Orion, MI - July 28, 2021 - Applied Manufacturing Technologies (AMT), North America's largest independent automation engineering company supporting manufacturers, robot companies, systems integrators, line builders, and users of robotic automation worldwide, today announced the successful completion of two major projects at Detroit-based Wolverine Packing Co.

Wolverine, a third-generation family-owned meatpacking business, is a leading processor of ground beef patties, fresh lamb and veal products, and portion-cut steaks for domestic and international customers. Experiencing rapid growth in demand for its high-quality protein products, the company contracted with AMT to design, build and install state-of-the-art automated production and material handling lines at two of its five meat processing plants in the Eastern Market of Detroit. The projects were implemented at the company's South plant and at its new 180,000 square feet Forest Park meat processing and freezing facility.
"AMT has been our partner in automating multiple lines in our Forest Park and South plants," said Kevin Schenk, Wolverine's Director of Technical Services. "The upgrades and new lines have allowed us to increase production and maintain flexibility in our system for future expansion. AMT has been very responsive to our needs and has provided us with excellent support."
AMT designed and installed upgraded conveyors and material handling equipment in the Wolverine South plant, an existing site running two shifts of production six days per week. The phased installation was conducted over two weekends. Its highly choreographed schedule accommodated the plant's production schedule with no additional downtime. In the new Forest Park facility, AMT designed and installed a flexible system which performed taping, weighing, and x-ray functions in the production area, and a nine-station automated robotic palletizing system in the pack-out area.
"We are excited to play a key role the expansion of Wolverine's production in both their new and existing sites," said Chief Operating Officer Craig Salvalaggio. "We have been able to design and implement solutions that have had a positive impact on Wolverine's business."

FLIR Si1-LD - Industrial Acoustic Imaging Camera for Compressed Air Leak Detection

FLIR Si1-LD - Industrial Acoustic Imaging Camera for Compressed Air Leak Detection

The FLIR Si1-LD is an easy-to-use acoustic imaging camera for locating and quantifying pressurized leaks in compressed air systems. This lightweight, one-handed camera is designed to help maintenance, manufacturing, and engineering professionals identify air leaks faster than with traditional methods. Built with a carefully constructed array of MEMS microphones for high sensitivity, the Si1-LD produces a precise acoustic image that visually displays ultrasonic information, even in loud, industrial environments. The acoustic image is overlaid in real time on a digital image, allowing you to accurately pinpoint the source of the sound, with onboard analytics which quantify the losses being incurred. The Si1-LD features a plugin that enables you to import acoustic images to FLIR Thermal Studio suite for offline editing, analysis, and advanced report creation. Field analysis and reporting can also be done using the FLIR Acoustic Camera Viewer cloud service. Transferring of images can be managed via memory stick or USB data cable. Through a regular maintenance routine, the FLIR Si1-LD can help facilities reduce their environmental impact and save money on utility bills.
