W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., July 30, 2020 — The ASTM International Conference on Additive Manufacturing (ASTM ICAM 2020), scheduled to be held in person in Orlando, FL on November 16-20, 2020 will now be held virtually. The ASTM International Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence, who is sponsoring the event, made the decision after consultation with the organizing scientific committee and careful consideration of speakers' preferences.

The health and safety of attendees, speakers, and staff members were a priority when making this decision, as well as following guidelines related to large gatherings, travel restrictions, and other factors as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

ASTM ICAM 2020 is ASTM International's fifth flagship event related to standardization, qualification, and certification with an emphasis on industry specific requirements addressing the entire additive manufacturing (AM) process chain. The conference is being organized by 60 members of the scientific committee and led by co-chairs Dr. Nima Shamsaei, director of the National Center for Additive Manufacturing Excellence (NCAME) and Dr. Moshen Seifi, ASTM International's director of global additive manufacturing programs

"This year's event will be the largest conference we have held to date and will consist of more than a dozen tracks and double the number of speakers with respect to last year's event," according to Seifi. "The conference will involve a broad group of ASTM committees and external stakeholders, setting the stage to bring nearly 350 experts from more than 25 countries to exchange the latest developments in the field of additive manufacturing with an emphasis on transition of research to standardization. We are aware of time-zone differences and are making every effort to hold this virtual event seamlessly with the latest available technology."

"ASTM ICAM 2020 will address the application of specific requirements for various industry sectors in addition to covering the fundamentals of the AM process chain," says Shamsaei. "Industry, academia, and government agency professionals in the AM community will join together virtually to address the need for industry standards, design principles, qualification and certification challenges, and more."

The five-day virtual conference includes 19 symposia and will be broken into a series of online sessions and panel presentations. To view the full conference schedule and to register for the event, visit https://amcoe.org/icam-2020.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for organizations looking to further involve, engage, and build relationships with decision-makers from industry, academia, and regulatory agencies through virtual networking and online exhibit spaces. Sponsorship inquiries can be directed to amcoe@astm.org.
