"Over the years, Emerson has shown their commitment to provide educational opportunities for students in the packaging industry. Their consistent sponsorship has made the success of this program possible, and we are grateful for their continued support," says Jim Pittas, president and CEO, PMMI.

The Amazing Packaging Race will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 25, during the last day of PACK EXPO Las Vegas and Healthcare Packaging EXPO 2019 in the Las Vegas Convention Center.

"We are very excited to once again sponsor the Amazing Packaging Race. The race is a hands-on celebration and exploration of technology and innovation. Both principles are cores of Emerson's heritage — and drivers of our continuing strong support of STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) education," says Jay Gatz, vice president, marketing, Emerson Automation Solutions. "The race unites college students from around the country to experience the best of the packaging industry. As part of another key Emerson STEM initiative, we look forward to announcing two next-generation leaders of engineering as recipients of Emerson's 2019 ASCO Engineering Scholarship Program."

The race will conclude with the announcement of the first, second and third place teams and awarding of prizes at the Emerson Booth (LS-6107).

Exhibitors and PMMI Partner Schools will be participating in the Amazing Packaging Race. All participating exhibitors in the race contributed $500 to the PMMI Foundation. For more information contact Kate Fiorianti, senior manager, education, PMMI at 571.287.4406 or kfiorianti@pmmi.org.

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

Our retention knobs are manufactured above international standards or to machine builder specifications. Retention knobs are manufactured utilizing AMS-6274/AISI-8620 alloy steel drawn in the United States. Threads are single-pointed on our lathes while manufacturing all other retention knob features to ensure high concentricity. Our process ensures that our threads are balanced (lead in/lead out at 180 degrees.) Each retention knob is carburized (hardened) to 58-62HRC, and case depth is .020-.030. Core hardness 40HRC. Each retention knob is coated utilizing a hot black oxide coating to military specifications. Our retention knobs are 100% covered in black oxide to prevent rust. All retention knob surfaces (not just mating surfaces) have a precision finish of 32 RMA micro or better: ISO grade 6N. Each retention knob is magnetic particle tested and tested at 2.5 times the pulling force of the drawbar. Certifications are maintained for each step in the manufacturing process for traceability.
