Midwest Prototyping Expands to Colorado Location, Acquires Tenere's Rapid Prototyping Division

The acquisition comes as a productive solution to offer rapid prototyping services in the Colorado area after Tenere, a contract manufacturer of custom metal and plastic components and assemblies, ended its rapid prototyping services earlier this year.

Midwest Prototyping, LLC., one of the nation's largest independent additive manufacturing service bureaus, announced today it will be expanding its services to Colorado after acquiring Tenere Inc.'s former rapid prototyping division. The acquisition comes as a productive solution to offer rapid prototyping services in the Colorado area after Tenere, a contract manufacturer of custom metal and plastic components and assemblies, ended its rapid prototyping services earlier this year.

"Expanding to Colorado is an exciting step for Midwest Prototyping," said Steve Grundahl, President and founder of Midwest Prototyping. "Providing quality service is something we've built our organization on, and we're looking forward to bringing our level of customer service and expertise to a new location. We intend to continue providing all of the services that were available at Tenere and will be able to introduce the newer offerings from HP and Carbon that we've been using in our Wisconsin facility for the last couple years."

Categorizing the acquisition as a natural strengthening of its already nationwide service area, Midwest Prototyping expects the Colorado facility to provide customers in the Great Plains and the Pacific Coast even faster turnaround times for 3D printing solutions. Midwest Prototyping and Tenere, both Wisconsin-based companies, often work in overlapping industries, including aerospace, defense, automotive, medical devices, personal electronics and consumer goods.

The acquisition of Tenere's rapid prototyping division bolsters Midwest Prototyping's additive services to over 30 industrial 3D printers, across seven distinct 3D printing technologies. Rapid prototyping services are already operational at the Colorado facility.

Headquartered in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin, this is the first out-of-state acquisition for Midwest Prototyping. Founded in 2001, the quality-driven organization has experienced rapid growth in recent years, previously acquiring Manitowoc Prototypes in 2008, and maintaining a position on Inc. 5000 list of America's fastest growing companies for the last six consecutive years.
