Machine vision in action: MVTec at Hannover Messe 2016

 Machine vision as a key technology for Industry 4.0  Safe human-machine interaction in smart factory scenarios  Robust and reliable solutions with HALCON 12.0.2 and MERLIC 2

Munich, April 5, 2016 - MVTec Software GmbH (www.mvtec.com), a leading supplier of innovative machine vision technologies, will be exhibiting its products at the Hannover Messe 2016 trade show. As the "eye of production", machine vision is a key technology for safe and efficient processes in Industry 4.0 and smart factory scenarios. This includes, for example, safe human-machine interaction. In addition, the ability to easily create machine vision applications becomes increasingly more important when production processes have to be adapted flexibly and small batch sizes must be implemented efficiently. In Hall 17, Booth E42, MVTec will provide interactive demonstrations and applications of machine vision (MV) technology in automated production environments, based on its standard software products HALCON and MERLIC:

 Edge-based localization and measurement on an industrial component
 Machine vision application on a standard industrial PC with a standard industrial camera
 Machine vision PLC communication
 Reading bar codes of varying code quality (due to print growth/overexposure)

MERLIC 2: machine vision applications without in-depth programming knowledge
MERLIC is the all-in-one solution for easily creating machine vision applications without in-depth knowledge of programming. Along with improved robustness and speed, the latest version MERLIC 2 also provides an entirely new feature: the MERLIC Engine. This interface enables users to create MERLIC applications using the intuitive MERLIC Backend and then directly load, parametrize, and execute them within their C++ or C# framework. This makes the application creation process more flexible. An ActiveX control element displays a user interface that was previously created with MERLIC Designer in the development environment, allowing changes and their impact on the user frontend to be checked directly. HALCON 12.0.2: new standards in speed and flexibility
HALCON 12.0.2 offers a number of new and improved features, including much more robust bar code identification. HALCON 12.0.2 now reliably reads bar codes particularly in the case of significantly overexposed images in which the code bars are displayed extremely narrow. It is able to read individual bars that are only five percent of their original width due to overexposure. In addition, images with high "print growth" can now be reliably identified. This happens when the bars become much too wide during printing because too much ink was used, thus making the code difficult to recognize. The software even reads code images whose individual bars are almost twice the normal width, which corresponds to a print growth of 95 percent. For further information please visit www.halcon.com.
