Nashville's Adventure Science Center doors will open at 8 a.m. to welcome participants engaged in business and education, as well as welcome those looking for manufacturing employment.

Business leaders

Invited speakers from industry will discuss talent acquisition, emerging technologies and Tennessee's collaborative climate as part of the event's "Business Track."

Speakers featured in the Business Track include John R. McKernan Jr., senior adviser, U.S. Chamber of Commerce; John R. Brandt, CEO and founder of The MPI Group; Lawrence E. Brown, executive director of ALMMII; and Glen Fenter, PhD, president, Greater Memphis Alliance for a Competitive Workforce.

Educators and students

They can also participate in a robotics competition and a welding simulation competition with both student and professional divisions.

Job Seekers

Participants following the "Job Seeker Track" at the event can connect with local manufacturing companies seeking to fill open positions.

Manufacturing Day is a national recognition featuring events, tours and speakers that give modern manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show what manufacturing is today — and what it isn't. Numerous SME chapters across the country are taking part in several of the nearly 2,000 scheduled Manufacturing Day events.

"Manufacturing Day is a great opportunity for all of us to share what we've learned and know; what we do and how we do it - with an interested, engaged audience," said Dean Phillips, event organizer and SME Nashville chapter officer. "We need the interest and energy of these collaborators, partners and especially these students - our future innovators and employers."
