Sapphire Coatings Selects BatchMaster ERP with QuickBooks Integration to Launch New Operations

Sapphire Coatings has chosen BatchMaster ERP, integrated with QuickBooks, to streamline their operations and support their upcoming business expansion. This strategic move aims to enhance efficiency, improve inventory management, and provide seamless financial oversight, positioning Sapphire Coatings for future growth.

Sapphire Coatings is a South Carolina-based manufacturer of water- and solvent-based dispersions for the coatings and printing industries. From industrial paints and wood stains to agricultural coatings for seed, Sapphire produces the toners and concentrated bases that go into these products, offering better consistency than many of its customers can achieve in-house.

With operations set to begin within 30 days, Sapphire Coatings is building on decades of industry expertise. Owner, Bruce Worley, brings over 50 years of experience in the coatings business and previously ran a manufacturing company with $68 million in annual sales, producing over a million pounds of finished product monthly with a team of 19 people.

"We're starting lean—just six of us right now," Worley shared. "But we know how to scale, and I already have customers asking how soon we can start making products for them."

SELECTION
Having used BatchMaster ERP in the 1980s, Worley was familiar with its core functionality and confident it could support his new operation. After exploring the updated platform and speaking with the BatchMaster team, he knew it was the right choice, especially with its modern integration to QuickBooks Online Advanced, which they plan to purchase. He didn't bother looking at other options, as the web version of BatchMaster ERP did everything exactly as they wanted, including batch tracking, lot number tracking, mix tickets, and printing shipping labels.

"I need full cradle-to-grave traceability—lot numbers, lab specs, COAs, inventory usage, batch and formulation costing, and compliance reporting," Worley said. "BatchMaster delivers all of it, and more importantly, delivers it fast."

IMPLEMENTATION OBJECTIVES AND BENEFITS
While Sapphire Coatings is a standalone business, it shares ownership with Mosaic, a long-established company that previously used QuickBooks. Worley plans to implement QuickBooks Online Advanced at Sapphire and integrate it with BatchMaster ERP for seamless financial management, payroll, billing, and reporting. "My team already knows how to use QuickBooks, and together with BatchMaster, we'll have everything we need to grow the right way," stated Worley."

As Sapphire Coatings prepares to launch operations, Worley is confident that BatchMaster ERP will be critical in helping the company grow efficiently and intelligently. Worley expects to gain real-time visibility into inventory usage, raw material and batch costs, and inventory turnover with the system in place. The ability to pull detailed reports in minutes instead of hours without relying on time-consuming manual processes will be a game changer.

"Knowing I can get this information quickly, without spending hours pulling it together, will help me more than anything," Worley said. He's also looking forward to leveraging BatchMaster's costing functionality. From formulation to batch production, the ERP will provide accurate, up-to-date costing data to help him make informed decisions, particularly as raw material prices fluctuate. The integration with QuickBooks Online Advanced adds even more value, streamlining billing, payroll, and financial reporting, without the need for duplicate data entry or disconnected systems.

LOOKING AHEAD
Although Sapphire is starting small, Worley expects growth to come quickly thanks to his longstanding relationships with customers eager to return. "I've already had customers reaching out, asking how fast we can get started," Worley said. "But this time, I'm growing smarter. I don't want to run 20-hour days anymore; I've done that. BatchMaster will let us grow with control and visibility." With BatchMaster ERP, Sapphire Coatings is laying the foundation for consistent quality, compliance, and sustainable growth—all while staying lean and focused.
