To us the future of AI in ERP is all about the AI consultant/customizer, what in tangle we call the AI assistant. It's not about having an AI tell you what to buy or how to run your shop, its about having the AI customize the ERP to work the way you want it to.

Artificial Intelligence in ERP
Artificial Intelligence in ERP

Q&A with Wayne Byrne, CEO and Founder | Tangle

Tell us about yourself and your company Tangle.

Tangle is basically a smart ERP with superpowers... Smart meaning like a smart phone it does the basics but can do just about anything else and superpowers meaning it can leverage AI and customizations to do things people never expected from an ERP like automated purchasing, full data migration from any system, replicating any existing process and so on.

Can you share some of the most interesting things your customers are doing with AI.

We've got customers using the embedded AI to process pdfs into purchase orders, sales orders etc... creating functions to automatically assign tasks by employees capacity and skill levels, using the AI to redraw form layouts from their previous system so they don't have to retrain their users.. there are so many.

Where do you see the future of AI in ERP?  Will it be as big of a game changer as we think?

To us the future of AI in ERP is all about the AI consultant/customizer, what in tangle we call the AI assistant. It's not about having an AI tell you what to buy or how to run your shop because people don't really trust that stuff, its about having the AI customize the ERP to work the way you want it to, create charts, automations, little apps... basically having the AI function as a consultant but its free and delivers in seconds instead of months!

What advice would you give a company looking for an ERP?

Don't sacrifice your process to any software product. Whatever a company is doing they need an ERP because they're growing so they're doing something right, too often the ERP vendors make them change their process to fit the software and they lose that uniqueness that was their competitive edge and they get horribly inefficient.

What are some of the problems with ERP in terms of the market and issues people have with their systems?

So.. mostly our customers tell us 'normal' ERPs are slow, hard to use, cant be customized and the key functions like purchasing and scheduling don't work the way they need it to, and they're usually painfully expensive with multi year contracts.

How does your company Tangle manufacturing differentiate themselves from other ERP companies?

Tangle was designed to be the complete opposite of everything people complain about... its not just fast it's realtime so you see everything as it happens, its easy to use, infinitely customizable to match your process and purchasing and scheduling are driven by custom AI assisted functions so they literally work exactly the way customers want them to. Oh and its reasonably priced with only a monthly contract and no big implementation fees :)
