The Smart3D Macro PM features 4 print chambers, vacuum drying, automation and a host of hardware and software applications to enable production capacities never before seen in material extrusion

[November 10, 2021] The new industrial range of Smart3D printing solution from Industry Supplies have been conceived to take material extrusion into the production sphere. Showcasing next week at Formnext in Frankfurt, the Smart3D Macro Production Module, features 4 individual print chambers, which offer flexible production solutions for low volume manufacturing. Each of the 4 print chambers come available as a standard (120°C) or High Temperature (200°C) chamber, and each can be used individually for specific projects, or together for increased production capacities. With a huge range of high-performance materials, including Smart3D's own PEEK, PEEK CF, PEKK, ULTEM1010, ULTEM9085, PPSU, the Smart3D range also offers material profiles for third-party brands including BASF and DSM, in an open material platform to give an even greater range of flexibility within applications.

To test the production capabilities, RGF, a company specialising in 3D printing for machine parts, used the Macro PM to realise cost and times savings. They found the 4 individual print chambers, the easy-to-use production software solutions and the wide material sets gave results which reduced cost by up to 92%. Other challenges, including developing 3D printed solutions for out-of-market spare parts that were no longer commercially available. Overall, the Macro PM proved to be highly successful in manufacturing parts of complex geometries, flexible for multiple part requirements and low to mid volume production, and able to save in both time and cost, due to the low material costs, high print speeds and integrated production capabilities.
