Systems & Control Engineers Enjoy Nearly 9 Percent Rise in Income, IEEE-USA Salary Survey Reveals

Now is a good time to be an engineer working in systems and control. These disciplines enjoyed a median income increase of more than double that of U.S. IEEE members in other fields.

WASHINGTON, Oct. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Now is a good time to be an engineer working in systems and control. These disciplines enjoyed a median income increase of more than double that of U.S. IEEE members in other fields.


According to the 2016 IEEE-USA Salary & Benefits Survey, systems and control engineers reported an 8.72 percent hike in median income for the 2015 tax year.* Similar income for all electrotechnology and information technology professionals who took the survey increased by 3.85 percent.

Systems and control includes the subspecialties of robotics and automation; control systems; industrial electronics; systems, man and cybernetics; information theory; and engineering in medicine and biology.

Other job specialties reporting a more than 5 percent salary gain include electromagnetics and radiation (5.79); industrial applications (5.5) and computers (5.03).

For all survey respondents, income went from $130,000 in 2014 to $135,000 last year. Results are based on survey responses from 9,637 people. The following are median incomes by job specialty:
