Eplus3D, a leading global provider of metal additive manufacturing (AM) solutions, has announced the launch of the EP-M3050, an ultra-large-format powder bed fusion (PBF) system that shatters previous size limitations. With build dimensions exceeding three meters in both X and Y axes, the EP-M3050 proves that Eplus3D has mastered the engineering challenges of truly large-scale metal 3D printing.


Pushing Beyond the 3 Meter Threshold
For years, the metal PBF industry has been constrained by a practical ceiling around three meters. The EP-M3050 breaks through that barrier with standard X and Y dimensions of 3050 mm x 3050 mm and a Z-axis customizable up to 5000 mm. This enables one-piece manufacturing of ultra-large structural components that previously required assembly of multiple smaller parts.

Up to 100 Lasers (Scalable to 256) with Industrial Efficiency
The EP-M3050 is built around a high-efficiency multi-laser architecture. The standard configuration includes 100 lasers, with scalability up to 256 lasers. Under typical process conditions, the theoretical printspeed is up to 3500 cm³/h, balancing productivity and process stability.

Rather than simply adding lasers, Eplus3D has developed coordinated scan strategies, path planning, and real-time process control to ensure uniform part quality across the entire large build area.

Designed for Aerospace, Energy & other Demanding Industrial Applications
The EP M3050 targets applications where large, integrated, high performance components are critical: aerospace & aviation, energy, oil & gas, machinery, and advanced industrial manufacturing. By enabling one piece manufacturing, the system reduces assembly work, shortens production cycles, and improves overall part performance.

A notable example is a 2.8 meter casing (see Figure 2) printed integrally on the EP M3050, demonstrating the system's ability to produce large, complex components in a single build.

Proven Expertise: From EP M1250 to EP M3050
The launch of the EP M3050 is not a sudden leap. Eplus3D has already sold over 100 units of its one meter class systems (EP M1250, EP M1550, EP M2050) and more than 200 units of systems with at least one axis exceeding one meter. This track record in large format metal AM provides the foundation for the EP M3050.

Moreover, Eplus3D states it now has the capability to custom build metal PBF systems with build volumes up to 5m x 10m x 5m, showcasing its engineering leadership in ultra large format additive manufacturing.
