HiveMQ Announces Sparkplug 3.0 Compatibility for Enterprise MQTT Platform

The HiveMQ MQTT platform has been certified as fully Sparkplug Compliant and Aware to support Industry 4.0 initiatives

HiveMQ, a global leader in enterprise MQTT solutions, today announced the HiveMQ MQTT platform has been listed in the Eclipse Foundation's Sparkplug Compatible program. The designation validates the HiveMQ MQTT platform as fully Sparkplug compliant and aware, while providing reliable and scalable IIoT messaging support for Industry 4.0 projects.

As one of the founding members of the Sparkplug Working Group at the Eclipse Foundation, HiveMQ helped develop the Sparkplug 3.0 specification and the Sparkplug Technology Compatibility Kit (TCK) that allows vendors to easily certify their compatibility. Sparkplug is an open source software specification for increasing MQTT interoperability specifically in smart manufacturing and Industrial IoT. The specification provides operational technology (OT) data with context so it can be seamlessly integrated with information technology (IT) in a bi-directional and interoperable way.

"We are proud to be an early leader in Industrial IoT with one of the first products validated as fully Sparkplug compliant and aware," said Christian Götz, CEO and Co-founder of HiveMQ. "With this designation, customers can be confident that our technology is ‘plug and play' for the seamless implementation of an MQTT/Sparkplug infrastructure for IIoT data movement."

The Sparkplug Compatibility Program aims to provide integrators and end-users with an easy way to procure devices and software products that are fully compatible with the Sparkplug specification. HiveMQ used the TCK provided by the Eclipse Foundation to validate conformance to the specification and support for key MQTT/Sparkplug features.

"Sparkplug is easily the most exciting new protocol for the IIoT, so ensuring industry-wide compatibility will be key to its ongoing growth," said Mike Milinkovich, executive director for the Eclipse Foundation. "HiveMQ was instrumental in developing the Sparkplug specification and TCK, and we look forward to continuing to work together to advance the adoption of MQTT and Sparkplug in the industry."

More information about our support for Sparkplug 3.0 is available on the HiveMQ blog and a list of Sparkplug Compatible software can be found here.
