AMT Focuses on Global Growth for Automated Post-Processing for AM with Announcement of Key Hires

AMT is dedicating resources to key global regions to drive home the benefits of additive manufacturing (AM) within an automated process chain, particularly post-build.

Following its successful Series A funding round, Additive Manufacturing Technologies Ltd (AMT) is pushing ahead to utilize part of the investment for global expansion activities. AMT's recent appointment of Damson Lai as APAC Market Director sees the company expand into the Asia Pacific region with a dedicated business development and sales strategy.

AMT is dedicating resources to key global regions to drive home the benefits of additive manufacturing (AM) within an automated process chain, particularly post-build.

Based in Taipei, Taiwan; Lai joins AMT from Teco Image System Co., Ltd. where he was responsible for establishing industrial 3D printing strategies for major OEMs of traditional consumer and business printing equipment. Lai's experience of identifying critical applications for 3D printing and AM will serve him well in his new role. His pragmatic approach to AM applications development and understanding the entire process chain will be invaluable when developing relationships across the APAC region on behalf of AMT.

Commenting on his appointment, Lai said: "I am delighted to be working with Joseph and the AMT team. AMT is at the cutting-edge of automated post-processing technology, which is exactly what the industry requires."

He continued: "AM/3D printing technologies offer huge opportunities for OEMs across many industry sectors. Realistically, though, it cannot compete with injection moulding for many high volume applications. However, there are just as many applications where it absolutely does make sense — particularly for engineering problems that we have previously not been able to solve before, even at higher volumes. The problem when such applications are identified and developed with AM, though, is the post-processing, because the costs and labour involved can make it unviable. AMT's post-processing solutions change that dramatically and can really bring AM to the next level for a whole range of customers with an attractive business model."

"I am relishing talking to customers across APAC about AMT and the opportunities available to them," Lai concluded.

On the other side of the Pacific, AMT is also continuing to expand its presence in the US. The company's new US HQ in Austin, Texas is on track to open by the end of 2019.

In Europe, AMT's work also continues apace. The dominant highlight of Q4 2019 for AMT will be the AM sector's biggest event of the year — Formnext — taking place 19-22 November in Frankfurt. This event will facilitate AMT's most significant presence at the show to date, with an innovative and eye-catching stand and the introduction of its comprehensive Digital Manufacturing System (DMS).

Visitors to AMT's Formnext booth (Hall 12.1, E61) will witness an array of sustainable, fully automated post-processing solutions for themselves, be able to discuss their own key AM applications with AMT experts and grab a beer from the closed-loop, fully automated, robotic bar.

Joseph Crabtree, CEO of AMT, commenting on the company's increased global presence, stated: "This is a really exciting time for the growing AMT team. We have secured the investment and key partnerships to take the company to the next level and it is gratifying to witness this becoming a reality across the world with a great team of people that have all the right qualities. The global reach of AMT is not just about the company, it is about creating real opportunities for manufacturing companies across the world to leverage the real benefits of additive manufacturing and 3D printing in a cost-effective and sustainable way through automated post-processing. It's going to be a very busy Q4 — and 2020!"
