Precision ADM Announces Validation of EOS M290 3D Printers, Publishes New White Paper

Additive manufacturing systems have successfully completed process validations, and a new white paper explaining the importance and procedure of AM process validation has been released.

Precision ADM, Inc. ("Precision ADM" or "the Company"), a global engineering and Additive Manufacturing (AM) solutions provider, announced today the successful completion of Titanium AM process validation for Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ) and baseline Performance Qualification (PQ) for their EOS M290 3D printers. Precision ADM consulted with experts from EOS GmbH Additive Minds to complete an accurate, extensive Validation Master Plan. In conjunction, Precision ADM has published a white paper titled "The Importance of Process Validation in Additive Manufacturing."

As the demand for metal AM grows, the need to demonstrate reliable, repeatable, and reproducible manufacturing processes as well as material behavior is essential. This is especially true in the medical and aerospace markets, where production part print properties have to be tightly controlled. Without a fully defined and properly data-driven validation system, an AM service provider cannot be sure that their end product is consistent.

The white paper explains the importance of achieving a process validation for AM, the method Precision ADM used to do so, the results of various tensile and density tests, as well as showing the complexities and hurdles that need to be overcome.

"We recognize the importance of applying quality metrics to the Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) process. EOS Additive Minds and their great expertise helped us to overcome the challenges of validation in AM. Together we analyzed the potential risks and we have invested in designing and completing a robust end-to-end validation of our metal additive process, so that we can assure our customers of reliable, repeatable manufacturing results," commented Martin Petrak, CEO of Precision ADM.

"Precision ADM now has the production capabilities and the documentation in place so that a medical or aerospace customer can focus on their final part, having confidence that they will get high-quality parts that fulfill all current industry regulations," said Michael Kowal, Application Development Consultant for EOS Additive Minds.
