Clariant opens fully owned additive manufacturing facilities in China

Clariant, a notable leader in the sphere of specialty chemicals recently announced the official opening of two new additive facilities at Zhenjiang, China. The opening of the fully owned facilities completes a multi-million CHF investment that had been announced in 2017. Seemingly, the inauguration also places Clariant's additive business in China in a position to expand its offering of high-end, customized solutions for ink, coatings and plastics industries.

Christian Kohlpaintner, Clariants Executive Committee member, reportedly said at the opening ceremony for the facilities that the investment in the Zhenjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone adds to the commitment milestones achieved by Clariant in expanding capacity and capability in China which is one of the most strategic markets for the specialty chemical manufacturer. He added that Clariant is looking to reap the benefits of the investment and pursuing a strategy aimed at sharpening Clariants focus in China.

The new facilities are committed to the production of AddWorks synergistic additive solutions and Ceridust micronized waxes. Both these additives are widely used in applications across ink, coatings and plastics industries. Apparently, Clariant Additive is recognized as a partner of choice among producers in these industries and with the additional local production facilitated by the units, Clariant will be able to provide better tailored solutions within shorter lead times.

Sources claim that the tailored solution will act as key components for the continued expansion of Clariants China sales by fulfilling Chinas demand for environmentally compatible and safe products as outlined in the 13th Five Year Plan. Clariant will also differentiate itself by confirming to industrial policy ‘Made in China 2025 with the tailored products.

Clariants Head of Business Unit Additives, Stephan Lynen reportedly stated that the production facilities will help complement Clariants long standing regional network of technical and commercial support for China and also for the whole of Asia. He further added that Clariant will continue to support the sustainable growth in the region.

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

Our retention knobs are manufactured above international standards or to machine builder specifications. Retention knobs are manufactured utilizing AMS-6274/AISI-8620 alloy steel drawn in the United States. Threads are single-pointed on our lathes while manufacturing all other retention knob features to ensure high concentricity. Our process ensures that our threads are balanced (lead in/lead out at 180 degrees.) Each retention knob is carburized (hardened) to 58-62HRC, and case depth is .020-.030. Core hardness 40HRC. Each retention knob is coated utilizing a hot black oxide coating to military specifications. Our retention knobs are 100% covered in black oxide to prevent rust. All retention knob surfaces (not just mating surfaces) have a precision finish of 32 RMA micro or better: ISO grade 6N. Each retention knob is magnetic particle tested and tested at 2.5 times the pulling force of the drawbar. Certifications are maintained for each step in the manufacturing process for traceability.
