(Oshkosh, Wis.)—SNC Manufacturing Co., Inc., an international manufacturer of electrical transformers, utility and communications products, will be launching a new 18-pulse autotransformer and a second generation of their industrial control transformer. Both products will be released September 1.

SNC developed the 18-pulse autotransformer based on demand from OEMs. This heavy-duty multi-phase transformer, available in horsepower ratings from 50 to 500, is designed to effectively reduce harmonic distortion for variable frequency drive applications.

The transformer, a 3-phase, 480-volt primary and 427-volt secondary, 60-Hz unit, is ETL UL 1561 certified. Features include copper windings that ensure cost-effective, reliable performance; 180-degree Celsius or better insulation; and thermal switches that are normally closed as an added safety measure, if required. This compact unit offers a small footprint and copper busbar terminations in various sizes to meet application requirements. Its available with or without enclosure.

The new Gen II industrial control transformer, designed to meet National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) ST-1 inrush volt amp (VA) regulations, offers three key features: a compact footprint, a completely enclosed coil and finger-safe terminals. The units feature bobbin wound construction with full current copper windings, integrally mounted terminal blocks with isolation barriers to prevent arc overs and heavy-gauge steel mounting plates with flexible mounting positions.

With units from 50VA to 5,000VA, the Gen II industrial control transformers are used in a wide range of applications where space is critical, including medical equipment, electrical vehicle battery chargers and HVAC systems.

Offered in a complete range of input and output voltages (600-volt class and below), the units are UL, cUL and CSA listed with CE agency approval available. Based on application requirements, customers can choose from three temperature classes and insulation systems adjustable by VA size:
• 50VA to 100VA, 55-degree Celsius temperature rise, 130-degree Celsius insulation system
• 150VA to 750VA, 80-degree Celsius temperature rise, 130-degree Celsius insulation system
• 1,000VA to 5,000VA, 115-degree Celsius temperature rise, 180-degree Celsius insulation system

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

Our retention knobs are manufactured above international standards or to machine builder specifications. Retention knobs are manufactured utilizing AMS-6274/AISI-8620 alloy steel drawn in the United States. Threads are single-pointed on our lathes while manufacturing all other retention knob features to ensure high concentricity. Our process ensures that our threads are balanced (lead in/lead out at 180 degrees.) Each retention knob is carburized (hardened) to 58-62HRC, and case depth is .020-.030. Core hardness 40HRC. Each retention knob is coated utilizing a hot black oxide coating to military specifications. Our retention knobs are 100% covered in black oxide to prevent rust. All retention knob surfaces (not just mating surfaces) have a precision finish of 32 RMA micro or better: ISO grade 6N. Each retention knob is magnetic particle tested and tested at 2.5 times the pulling force of the drawbar. Certifications are maintained for each step in the manufacturing process for traceability.
