ACIETA CELEBRATES 35TH ANNIVERSARY IN ROBOTIC AUTOMATION, RELFECTS ON THREE DECADES OF INDUSTRY CHANGE

“We started out with technologies that were state-of-the-art at the time, which were primarily load/unload robots for machining operations,” Burg recalls. Weve been helping our customers avoid worker exposure to dangerous and repetitive jobs. Its always been our focus to use robots to improve work environments, and we have a huge sense of pride in that.”

Council Bluffs, IA, April 1, 2018 - This year, Acieta, a leading robotics integrator, celebrates its 35th anniversary in the robotics industry. Founder John Burg ordered the companys first robot in 1983 from GMFanuc Robotics. Today, Acieta leads the way in automation technology and experience, with more than 4,500 robotic system installations throughout North America and 130 employees between the Council Bluffs, IA, and Pewaukee, Wis., locations. Many of the companys engineers and lead builders are FANUC Robotics Master Certified Service Engineers.

"We started out with technologies that were state-of-the-art at the time, which were primarily load/unload robots for machining operations," Burg recalls. Weve been helping our customers avoid worker exposure to dangerous and repetitive jobs. Its always been our focus to use robots to improve work environments, and we have a huge sense of pride in that."
In the last 35 years, technology and manufacturing have changed significantly, and robotic automation has continually evolved to meet the needs of manufacturers. However, one constant has been Acietas commitment to creating a positive future for North American manufacturing by partnering with many industry sectors to implement robotic automation. Robotics help manufacturers lower costs, improve worker safety, increase productivity, improve quality, address labor shortages and gain a competitive advantage internationally.
The company began in 1983 when founder John Burg was working as a machine tool distributor and developed a fascination with robots used in machine shops. He and his partners started Automated Concepts with eight employees and no computers. Over time the company grew and utilized new technologies by merging with other companies to eventually be named Acieta in 2014.

Perspective on Robotic Evolution
In the last three decades, Acieta has seen robotic technology expand significantly. Robotic controllers have evolved from simple alpha numeric one line displays with complex code to simple and intuitive programming and touchscreen displays. Lower equipment costs have given companies of all sizes the chance to benefit from robots. Where robotic arms were once limited in movement and range, todays articulated robots are more flexible and move faster with greater agility. Now vision systems make it easier than ever for robots to identify and adapt to a variety of parts without human interaction.
With 35 years under its belt, Acieta looks to the future for state-of-the-art robotic solutions that help customers and industries change and grow.
"Artificial intelligence, coupled with advanced vision systems, will play a bigger role in manufacturing." said Robby Komljenovic, Chairman and CEO of Acieta. "Robots will continue to take on more jobs side-by-side with people to do tasks faster and safer, and we are uniquely experienced to help make that happen. Its our goal to help companies integrate robotic solutions that provide a better quality of life for everyone."

ResinDek® TRIGARD® ESD ULTRA FOR HIGH-TRAFFIC ROBOTIC APPLICATIONS

To maximize the productivity of an autonomous mobile robot (AMR) or automatic guided vehicle (AGV) deployment, it's critical to create the optimal environment that allows the vehicles to perform at their peak. For that reason, Cornerstone Specialty Wood Products, LLC® (www.resindek.com) created the TriGard® ESD Ultra finish for its ResinDek® engineered flooring panels. The TriGard ESD Ultra finish is ideal for high-traffic robotic applications characterized by highly repetitive movement patterns and defined travel paths.
