Mouser Electronics and Grant Imahara Set to Empower Makers at Maker Faire in California

Celebrity Engineer to Speak, Interact with Fans

SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Global distributor Mouser Electronics Inc. will participate in this weekend's Maker Faire Bay Area at the San Mateo (Calif.) Event Center as a Coppersmith Sponsor. Joining Mouser will be longtime customer and celebrity engineer Grant Imahara, who will discuss innovation in the maker movement, including Mouser's exciting Empowering Innovation Together™ program.

Imahara will be a featured speaker on Saturday, May 20, at 11 a.m. on the Center Stage, after which fans can watch through Mouser's Twitter feed (@MouserElec) as Grant tours the Faire. Imahara will then appear at the Mouser booth, located across from the Make: Electronics Stage in the Electronics building in Zone 2. Mouser representatives will be in the booth to discuss how Mouser empowers makers with the newest technologies from its 600-plus manufacturer partners. Visitors to the Mouser booth can also sign up for a chance to win an Intel® Compute Stick.

"Mouser proudly supports makers, whether they're part-time tinkerers, professional engineers, or STEM educators," says Kevin Hess, Mouser Senior Vice President of Marketing. "We're excited to sponsor and attend Maker Faire, enjoying the community and innovation that runs throughout the event."

In addition to a creative, interactive LED puzzle game — a favorite from Mouser's appearance at World Maker Faire New York — Mouser will showcase a variety of development boards from leading manufacturers, including a live demo of the Intel Edison Development Platform.

Join Mouser in the Electronics building in Zone 2:

Friday, May 19, 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Saturday, May 20, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Sunday, May 21, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Mouser and Imahara received much attention throughout 2016 and 2017 for projects featured in Mouser's Innovation Lab, part of the Empowering Innovation Together program. From bringing superhero technology to life to 3D printing a semi-autonomous car with drone technology, Mouser is helping to inspire innovation and creativity.

Maker Media produces over 190 Maker Faires throughout the world each year, and Maker Faire Bay Area is among the largest. The flagship event is a wonderful opportunity for all ages to create, invent, learn, think and be inspired by the creative, engineering-related impulse to make and re-make the everyday objects that shape our future. Attendees can meet talented makers and learn about the interesting technologies they use, and then join hands-on activities to make their own creations.
