Although the IDX motor is only 56 mm or 70 mm in size, its performance is equivalent to that of a motor with a 25% larger footprint. IDX drives combine power with small space requirements. As a configuration option, the IDX is also available without the EPOS4 positioning controller.

IDX
High power density, easy commissioning.
The IDX series is suitable for all applications that require low-voltage BLDC motors. They offer flexibility for use in industrial, robotic, and intralogistic applications as well as production machinery with X-, Y-, and Z-axis movements.
IDX drives provide all those connection options as standard that can be adjusted to specific requirements. After plug-in, they are ready to use, as they have been preconfigured before delivery.

A high-performance compact drive.
The IDX drive is available with a positioning controller, an integrated motor/speed controller (closed loop), and a temperature sensor on the winding. The IDX motor can be configured in such a way that it can be operated via an external motor controller. The high-quality version provides IP65 protection, only the output shaft must be sealed by the customer.
No overheating due to integrated sensors
To prevent damage, IDX drives are equipped with two integrated temperature sensors, one located on the motor winding and one in the electronics. In case of any issues, the motor is immediately protected by automatic derating. This also prevents overheating of the entire housing.
Ready to use
The IDX is equipped with CANopen or EtherCAT bus interfaces in accordance with industry standards. In order to reduce installation time to a minimum, maxon configures the IDX drives prior to delivery. The drives can be optimally matched to maxon controllers. For easy commissioning with the maxon EPOS Studio software, a USB connection is also available. Via CANopen or USB, it is even possible to operate the IDX using Windows or Linux system environments, if the application does not require any real-time data exchange. For the lean integration into a wide variety of master systems, we additionally provide an extensive EPOS Command Library to our customers.

For the IDX drive, the motor, gearhead, controller, and brake are perfectly matched to each other. With a specifically developed maxon GPX gearhead focused on torque density and smooth running, a brake controlled by the integrated controller, and the corresponding cable accessories, the IDX is a compact drive solution that can be put into operation immediately.
