Alliance Machine Systems International set to acquire Systec Conveyors and Automatan

Strategic alignment will enhance the premier one-stop paperboard packaging automation and material handling solutions for the corrugated and folding carton industries worldwide

SPOKANE, Wash. — March 19, 2025 — Alliance Machine Systems International, a global leader in the manufacturing of automated paperboard packaging equipment for the production of corrugated boxes, is set to acquire Systec Corporation and Automatan, LLC. This strategic alignment will enhance production efficiency and quality of paperboard packaging automation and material handling solutions for the corrugated and folding carton industries. Alliance is a part of Barry-Wehmiller, the 140-year-old, $3.6 billion global capital equipment and engineering solutions firm led by CEO Bob Chapman and President Kyle Chapman.

"Alliance Machine Systems International is thrilled to acquire both Systec Corporation and Automatan, LLC, marking a significant milestone in our journey," said Marius Batrin, Alliance President. "After years of successful collaboration, Alliance, Systec and Automatan have decided to become part of the same business structure. This acquisition is a pivotal step in enhancing our position as a comprehensive full-range solution provider for our customers."

Systec, headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, has been creating conveying equipment since 1992. Automatan, located in Plover, Wisconsin, has been producing laminators and labelers since 1976. Together, they have established themselves as strong, reliable, innovative and dynamic companies for conveying and material handling products in the corrugated and solid board industries.

"Their success is due to their enthusiasm and hard work, as well as their constant focus on innovation and quality," said Batrin. "Those values align perfectly with Alliance's mission, enabling us to deliver unparalleled service and optimized one-stop shopping for equipment and services for all paperboard and folding carton automation and material handling solutions alongside our other product lines."

The entire Systec and Automatan team will remain in place, continuing to grow and develop state-of-the-art equipment, with additional global engineering, sales and customer care support from Alliance Machine Systems alongside current Alliance products.

"This strategic alignment will empower us to deliver even greater value to our customers," said Christopher Nigon, Systec and Automatan CEO. "By combining our innovative solutions with the resources and expertise of Alliance Machine Systems International, we will be able to accelerate our growth, improve our services and expand our reach. We are delighted that Alliance appreciates the value of our organizations, and we are confident and excited that our combined expertise will have a positive impact on our continued growth and success. We believe that this alignment is an excellent extension of long-term business strategy, and we are thrilled to have a partner that shares our principles and respects the culture that has driven our success."

This transaction is expected to close by March 31, 2025.

Using AI to Collect & Leverage Data

Data is the foundation of Industry 4.0. While skilled workers will always be essential, data is reshaping the manufacturing landscape, enabling automation of repetitive tasks, empowering smarter decision-making with AI assistance, and reducing defects and downtime. This shift allows small and medium-sized manufacturers (SMMs) to compete more effectively on quality, speed, and cost. While AI and machine learning systems typically require around two years to collect enough data to reach their full potential, manufacturers can start seeing benefits almost immediately with basic analysis tools and dashboards.
