Tell us a little bit about your event AI in Industrial Automation Summit in San Francisco beginning June 28th? What can an attendee expect to see and learn?

The AI in Industrial Automation Summit will showcase the most recent research and business applications in the industry through presentations from global AI experts, interactive workshops, exhibition and demonstration area, panel discussions, and extensive networking. The summit is co-located with the Deep Learning for Robotics Summit and will bring together 550 professionals and 60 expert speakers working in AI and Deep Learning to learn about factories of the future, smart manufacturing, and the digital transformation of industry through applied machine learning, robotics and automation. All attendees are welcome to attend presentations and workshops from both tracks, providing an in-depth but varied agenda.

At the AI in Industrial Automation Summit we will delve into industry 4.0 and discover how to harness advancements in AI to create factories of the future. Manufacturing is susceptible to bottlenecks in production, inefficiency, waste and high costs in production. The Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) is bringing us the factories of the future with the implementation of AI to help optimize and scale operations through predictive maintenance, improved safety amongst others. Digital technologies promise to transform the industry and there’s a huge buzz around advanced analytics, augmented reality, additive manufacturing, and other technologies.

Who do you have lined up to speak at the event?

Greg Kinsey, Vice President of Industrial Solutions and Innovations at Hitachi will share his expertise in creating practical value from AI in manufacturing. He explains that ‘Some companies fail by focusing purely on technology’, and will explain how AI can be used to predict and avoid defects and bottlenecks, and well as presenting a roadmap for digital transformation of manufacturing.

Another company leading the way in this area is Caterpillar, and Analytics Tech Specialist, Benjamin Hodel, will share breakthrough research on how they’re creating better earth-moving machines controlled through AI. Also confirmed to speak is Shahmeer Mirza, Senior Research and Development Engineer at PepsiCo, Dan Yu, Senior Research Scientist & Innovation Manager at Siemens Corporate Technology and Jeremy Marvel, Research Scientist and Project Leader at National Institute of Standards and Technology, amongst many others.

What is the format of the event?

The summit will take place across 2 days with presentations, workshops, panel discussions, fireside chats, and over 7 hours of networking. At the end of day one, attendees will enjoy drinks with the opportunity to network with the expert speakers as well as attendees from leading companies in the field. Attendees will include Chief Data Scientists, CTOs, Founders, Director of Engineering, CEOs and System Engineers. The summit will cover both research and real-world applications, with the talks honing in on the most current and cutting edge progressions in industrial automation.

'The Deep Learning Summit brought together a fantastic collection of people from diverse areas of the field, from both academia and industry, with a balance of both technical and industry focused backgrounds’' Drew Volpe, First Star Ventures (Deep Learning Summit, San Francisco, 2017)

Will these speakers address aspirational ideas or focus more on what’s available now. How do you see the speakers helping to move show attendees from the reality of today to the promise of tomorrow?

At each RE•WORK summit, speakers address the most current and cutting edge technology. Often, these projects are either in BETA or pre-launch, however we also look at the newest technology making an impact in the field. The summit will showcase the opportunities of advancing trends in ML and DL, their impact on driving better efficiencies and improving quality, accuracy and precision. At previous summits, product/technology announcements and breakthrough research has led to collaborations between several experts, as well as job offers after attendees and speakers network after presentations.
