Challenge

Manual rework was error-prone, nonstandardized, and dependent on the knowledge of individual employees. Clear instructions for troubleshooting were lacking, as was systematic control of rework after the cause of the error had been identified.

Rework should not be an improvised secondary process.

With PG, we at Schaltbau have created a clearly structured

process – controlled by error codes and guided by logic.

Efficient troubleshooting at Schaltbau: The power of process optimization

The continuous improvement of work processes is an essential component of successful companies. Schaltbau, a leading global industrial company specializing in direct current and offering products and solutions that enable electrification, has launched a remarkable project with CSP that significantly increases the efficiency and quality of its production  processes. The focus of the project is the “Rework Workstation” with CSP's PG software.

A look at the special project

Schaltbau has launched a special project to optimize the quality of its products and increase efficiency in production. PG plays a crucial role in this. “Rework Workstation” describes the use of PG after a product has been manufactured. If an error code is detected, it is transmitted to PG. Based on the error code, the employee receives clear instructions and options for action. Using “ifthen logic,” the employee is guided step by step through the necessary workflows to correct the error.

The introduction of PG at Schaltbau

The introduction of PG at Schaltbau began in March 2023. This required continuous improvement of the company's production processes. The implementation of PG as a rework workstation enables faster identification and correction of errors, which has a direct impact on product quality and efficiency.

Scope of application of PG

To date, PG has only been used at Schaltbau's Velden plant. This plant plays a central role in Schaltbau's production, and the integration of PG there demonstrates the importance of process improvement and quality assurance.
