Held in conjunction with UBM's prestigious Anaheim event are the 16th annual Golden Mousetrap Awards. Through the Awards program, UBM recognizes companies, technologies, and individuals that are driving progress and innovation in product design and manufacturing. With the Golden Mousetrap Awards, UBM honors the current renaissance of design and manufacturing by celebrating those companies and people who are making it possible, while pedestaling Engineering and Manufacturing as rewarding career choices for our next generation of rising stars.

"We are pleased to announce show dates for UBM's Anaheim event, North America's largest annual design and manufacturing tradeshow and conference. Spanning six industries—packaging, plastics, medical, electronics, automation and robotics, and design — Anaheim is the place to be to stay on the cutting edge of the trends that shape manufacturing today and for the future," said Nina Brown, Vice President of Events, UBM Americas. "In addition to a diverse calendar of content, education and expo events, please join us for the 16th annual Golden Mousetrap Awards on February 7th where UBM and Design News will celebrate the pioneering people, companies, and technologies in product design and manufacturing."

Golden Mousetrap Award categories include: Automation and Control; Design Tools: Hardware and Software; Electronics and Test; Materials and Assembly; and Gadget Freak of the Year (in partnership with Allied Electronics). Within these five distinct categories, there are 17 subcategories of products. All products submitted for award consideration must be commercially available in the U.S. - able to be ordered or purchased - between September 1, 2015, and October 1, 2016. The deadline for entries is November 1, 2016. To enter the Golden Mousetrap Awards please visit: http://goldenmousetraps.designnews.com/

During the ceremony, Design News will present a Lifetime Achievement Award to an engineering luminary who has made extraordinary contributions to the field during his or her career, as well as to a Rising Star engineer whose career shows tremendous opportunity ahead.

"When we talk about the renaissance of design and manufacturing, it isn't an either/or. We must look at the two as a joint unit, and we must recognize the engineering behind that. At the Golden Mousetrap Awards, we celebrate the innovative people, companies, and technologies that further both product design and manufacturing," said Suzanne Deffree, Content Director and Editor in Chief, Design News. "We do hope to see you at Anaheim this February, not only at the Golden Mousetrap awards to be celebrated but as an engineer who deserves to continue their own growth through networking and the in-person learning opportunities the event will provide."

Finalists in each category will be announced in January 2017, and winners will be revealed in a live ceremony on February 7, 2017, which runs alongside UBM's Anaheim design and manufacturing event. Winners and finalists will receive exposure in a national campaign promoting the awards, the right to use and display the special Golden Mousetrap finalist and winner logos on packaging and promotions, and media coverage by Design News.
