WAI reunites wire industry in Dallas with enthusiastic return to its Operations Summit and Wire Expo

964 registrants from 39 states and 14 countries filled the exhibit hall and conference rooms for this much-anticipated show which followed the theme: “Rising to the challenges.” The typically biennial event was last staged pre-pandemic in 2018.

MADISON, Connecticut, USA - June 10, 2022 - The Wire Association International (WAI), Inc. reports a positive staging of its Operation Summit & Wire Expo on June 7-8, 2022, at the Hyatt Regency Dallas, Dallas, Texas, USA.


964 registrants from 39 states and 14 countries filled the exhibit hall and conference rooms for this much-anticipated show which followed the theme: "Rising to the challenges." The typically biennial event was last staged pre-pandemic in 2018.

WAI's popular Fundamentals of Wire Manufacturing Course on June 6 preceded the activities with 126 participants.

The exhibit included a full complement of products and supplies from 130 participating companies. Conference attendees represented 257 discrete companies. On June 8, Encore Wire—a manufacturer of copper and aluminum residential, commercial, and industrial building wire—hosted Wire Expo guests on a sold-out tour of its ever expanding campus in McKinney, Texas.
Describing the event WAI 2022 President James York said "the energy of the event was fantastic. It was clear the group was happy to be back together and to acknowledge those who navigated us through the pandemic. Under these challenging times, networking and sharing is even more important. Wire Expo was just what we needed!"

Brian Schulties, the Chief Procurement Officer for Prysmian Group North America, shared his insights into the opportunities and challenges facing supply chain in the wire and cable industry in his presentation titled: "The new normal in raw material procurement for the wire and cable industry."

Ty Garrison, Senior Vice President of Operations, at Commercial Metals Company, discussed how the last few years have emphasized the need for true leadership in this period where there are more questions than answers in his presentation titled "Leadership in a volatile world."

Our retention knobs are manufactured above international standards or to machine builder specifications. Retention knobs are manufactured utilizing AMS-6274/AISI-8620 alloy steel drawn in the United States. Threads are single-pointed on our lathes while manufacturing all other retention knob features to ensure high concentricity. Our process ensures that our threads are balanced (lead in/lead out at 180 degrees.) Each retention knob is carburized (hardened) to 58-62HRC, and case depth is .020-.030. Core hardness 40HRC. Each retention knob is coated utilizing a hot black oxide coating to military specifications. Our retention knobs are 100% covered in black oxide to prevent rust. All retention knob surfaces (not just mating surfaces) have a precision finish of 32 RMA micro or better: ISO grade 6N. Each retention knob is magnetic particle tested and tested at 2.5 times the pulling force of the drawbar. Certifications are maintained for each step in the manufacturing process for traceability.
